I have been out of the game for a while now. Back in the day if you got caught racing you got a ticket. I have heard now that if they catch you, they take you to jail and your car....what it the truth behind all this. And what countys/city's are enforcing this.

They supposedly suspend your liscense for up to a year, impound your car, and I have heard have the right to take it all together, but I don't plan to pull over to find out.

They can suspend your license up to a year. Instantly take you to jail and inpound your car. As far as I know this is state wide. We adopted the california way of doing things like 8 or 9 months ago. Used to all you got was a ticket back in the day. Street racing is real dangerous so if you do it ......do it somewhere were the risks are all on you and the other guy. The cops have a real bad taste in their mouth about street racing so most of the time if they even think you are going to street race they are going to mess with you. You can help yourself out buy, not street racing in large crouds.....you know say at a meet. Only race when someone random guy pulls up on you some night when your all alone. You increase your chances of not getting caught.

Oh yeah and street racing is bad:p

what they said.....i heard a guy actually had his car seized, impounded, and sold at public auction all before he made bail. not worth the risks to your car, life, or other ppl well being. Kepp it on the track.... (or a REALLY deserted back country road) LMAO:p

Prior to September 1, 2003, "racing" was a Class C misdemeanor, regardless of the circumstances, and punishable by fine only. Now, the seriousness of a given "racing" offense is determined as follows:

1. Class B misdemeanor- first offense (so long as the defendant is not proven at trial to have been DWI or in possession of an "open container" during the race).

2. Class A misdemeanor- if previously convicted of racing, or if DWI, or if in possession of an "open container" during the race.

3. State jail felony- if previously convicted of racing two or more times.

4. Third degree felony- if an individual suffers bodily injury as a result of the offense.

5. Second degree felony- if an individual suffers serious bodily injury or death as a result of the offense.

Thats the state law, local police might be a little more stringent.

Thanks for the reply..........things were getting out of hand with the other posts. You are correct. Oh and if your convicted of a dwi with someone under 15 in the car with you........its a felony.

Btw, a second degree felony can lead to as much as 20 years jail time and a $10k fine. I'd say the laws are serious now.

Yeah me to!!! He'd be the second fastest DSM in the world, slightly behind John Sheperd. Also it would be by far the fastest one in the area.

I crossed paths with Andy Craft a handfull of times while we were going to Texas A&M. I became a big believer in DSM's when racing Andy. He could pull the tires on his AWD Eclipse on the street  .

Yeah Andy is an old school DSM'r, I remember him having a ball bearing turbo about 8 years ago:) He still wasn't the fastest around here though.

There is one locally that puts 600+ to the wheels without nitrous and also has a 150 shot, if the drivetrain would stay together it would easily be a 5.7 car:)

Save it for the track. There are only what...four or five dragstrips locally..at least. Don't take the chance.

Denton
Kennedale
Redline

You could also include Hallsville if you wanted to. So that would make 7....lol.
