View Full Version : Pro 5.0 cars are faster than pro mods now!
This is getting insane, I just heard one of them ran a 4.19@189mph in the 1/8 last weekend in Orlando.

Yes it would.
Too bad their rules prohibit turbos. A bunch of years back Hurley Blakeney entered one of their races with his comp eliminator car and embarassed everyone. Now they have to keep the blower manufacturers happy so they keep out the really good power adder.

aint that the damn truth. the supercharger companies need to bust some balls coming up with new ideas on how to compete, rather than just limit turbos.

there are a few outlaw turbo pro-mods out there...if you think a 4.19 will beat a blower car...guess again......i have seen more than a handful of sub 4 sec pass's....and the quickest one was a 3.92 by a guy out of mississippi...and he did it w/ smallblock!!!! hte fast nitrous cars running IHRA are still getting into the high 4.0's and low teens.....there just aren't many of them

... must be Jason Scruggs.. He went 3.99 at Kennedale.. Pat Edwards went 4.5x last week at Denton..Not near fast enough.. but I am sure he will get there eventually..

That's odd. How does Pat Edwards run Pro-Mod? He has a turbo and runs with the local Pro-Mod's.

I've never seen him at an IHRA or an NHRA national event either, must be a reason for that! Like Kelly mentioned, outlaw cars can use them and he races outlaw.
I don't think you'll ever see a turbo car run top fuel though since it would have to use the equivalent of 4 t100 turbos to even come close to moving the amount of air their blowers move. That and trying to control the fuel would be a nightmare.
And Kelly, I agree that some of the blower pro mods go faster than that sometimes (Franky is nearly always faster than that), but a 4.19 will nearly always put you in the semi finals at the local races.

You should read the rules before you quote them. Annette Summers has twin T-101s on her '63 Vette, and runs all the pro mod races.

Scruggs has run 3.89 already. with a 400 ci smallblock.

You can run turbos in Outlaw Promods, not NHRA & IHRA. Annette Summers has twin T-101s on her '63 Vette, and runs all the OUTLAW PROMOD races.
