They are cracking down hard on the no front license plate law out there.

If you plan on coming out next week or anytime else. Make sure to have your front plate on your car. I asked about it being in the front windshield the cop said drill the hoes and put it on.

Also make sure your reg. & inspection are up to date as well.

The cops said they are not trying to run us off, they are just trying to come down on the people that are acting like idiots

I am just trying to give everyone a for warning so no one has to deal with getting pulled over.

The cop said it was a $250.00 ticket for no front plate

Hell I drove out the front. I might go out a different way next time. What is the best way to leave?

They only act that way at Sonic? Is it ok to take my car to Jasons? I'm not drilling a hole in my bumper.

The cops never go to Jason's, it is in a different lot.

We were thinking of other ways to put the plate on your car. Double sided tape (the body pannel kind) would work and also using a magnet on the back side of the bumper would too.

For temporary use that's not a bad idea. Just make sure it's a strong magnet so it doesn't fall off.

I'm rounding up the stuff to do this idea right now!!! Great minds must think alike!:D

the only downside is if the magnet isnt strong enough and you hit a bump, it not only has the chance of falling off, but the plate could slide down and scratch the bumper if it gets shaken enough. looks like im gonna use some double sided tape.

It's a $10 fix it ticket... Does everyone beleive what cops tell them? They have no power in court, the judge does...

I'll swing by in my dad's Vert when the motor/paint work are done... It has CA plates, so I'll be sure to thank the cops after they attempt to give me a ticket. They pulled me over once before in the L and told me to have a nice night since I had CA plates... :) Cops are awesome, and very brilliant as well...

Well I hope you are right, because I am going to have to fight one. The clerk said I really only had a chance of getting it reduced half way. And the fine is $152 dollars, I think when he said $250 last night he was thinking of the registration.

Hello everyone...Im a newbie but I wanted to comment on what the cop said....from a cop...the law says and I qoute "must display two license plates, at the front and rear of the vehicle" The law in no way states how it has to be affixed to the front or rear of your vehicle. So basically as long as your license plate is visable and readable from the front in your front windshield...the cop cant legally write a ticket for that!!

Back when I had my Stang I put my front plate up in my windshiled. It wasn't even that visible but I always saw cops on the road and was never harassed about it.

Nick Technically you are right, but the cops don't give a shit... I had mine in the windshield and got pulled over for it. I pointed at it when he asked where it was, and he said it had to be on the front of the car... I showed the D/A pics of it and she threw the dumb ass ticket out, but it was still time and effort to fight it. Cops are fucken retards, plain and simple... Only cops I respect are detectives, SWAT and such, not dumb ass beat cops wasting our time writing retarded tickets that aren't helping anyone.

Or at least drive slow enough to get you to 35 and then pull over and take it off...

The magnets I have right now are 40 pound magnets. Their power will be greatly reduced by putting one behind the bumper cover, but I think it will hold just fine. It'll be a while before I do it, I'll need to pull the bumper cover to do it the way I want it.

I'll do somthing else till then, I'll see you cats on the 24th.

Actually from what I was told the license plate has to be on the most front of the vehicle. I forgot the correct terms.

The license plate in the windshield is NOT acceptable and it is ticketable.
Last ticket I got of that kind ended up being $100 ticket in Dallas.

That is the way the law is written....so the cop that told you that is wrong....No were in the law does it state that the license plate has to be at the front most part of the car!!

and strokd.... you are so mistaken on your thought process there buddy!! First off in a mojority of the cities...Tach Officers make up a big part of the same beat officers you hate! Detectives all were once beat officers or they wouldnt be a detective and beat officers main job is not to write tickets or bullshit tickets for that matter...thats the job of the TRAFFIC division to do! Beat officers answer 911 calls all night and do the occasional traffic stop if there is time. Sorry you feel that way..but not all cops write stupid tickets, and I put myself into that category. Dont break the law and getting a ticket shouldnt be a concern!!
