Ok gang, for those of you that like to turn corners, come out and get a taste of Autox first hand. AX #1 will be held at the Mineral Wells airport this Saturday 3/13 with the Lone Star BMW CCA. These are not small tight courses but are sometimes 1.5 miles long and can see speeds of 100mph and as slow as 10 mph. Drivers meeting is at 8am and I plan on leaving Plano with car in tow around 6 am. Bring the stangs, or whatever else you have and have fun. This is a member only event however, you get one "mulligan" to give it a try. There should be about 5 mustangs, 5 or 6 vettes, a few f-bodies, S2000's, WRX's and STi's and a shitload of BMW's.

Event will last all day rain or shine and I advise you bring drinking water and sunscreen.....I didn't last weekend and have 2nd degree burns on my face...

Anyway, if you want to spectate or participate, it is a lot of fun.

I hope to be out there testing the new combo and beating up on some Vette owners!!!

If you want more info, go to www.lscbmwcca.org and looking the Autocross and event schedule for times and directions.

I guess there is no one on this board that is interested in actually turning while driving fast.......I suppose straight line driving is a challenge enough for some?

Oh well.

Andrew, keep in mind, some of us can't go fast in a straight line!!!

Anyway, today was a new experience. Driving balls out in the fucking rain!!! The abs and the brembos actually worked great trying to stop the car from 85 down to 20 in about 100 feet, accelerating was a whole other problem.

I was suffering from too much power, bald and dry rotted tires and probably a little too heavy of a right foot. I did however put on one hell of a show and never spun the car. I was completely over the edge all day spending more time hauling the car back in straight then actually driving good line. I was driving looking out the side windows alot as I could just not get any traction at all. I could probably have done just as well with the Hoosiers on the car instead. :(

Acidpete and Johntheaggie beat my ass pretty good because they are no power traction havin' bastards....:D

all in all the rain was kind of fun but man am I tired.....:

I was stuck in Missourri but would have loved to come. Are you a member of the club? Once my motor is done and I can afford some mew tires and brakes I will be out there shredding cones with you.

I am a member of the National BMWCCA.....costs $35/year and is more than worth it. Events cost $25 by pre-registering on the net with DLBracing.net using pay pal.

I am hoping my rear brake setup arrives before the next event in April. I also hope it isn't raining again so I can finally stick it to these guys on my hoosiers.....

I will say this much though....The Z06 that was there using traction control and all his "cool" driver stability BS was only .7 faster than me. I don't have TC except for my right foot so I don't feel too bad. Power was my enemy yesterday for the first time!!!

Doopie, see you out there soon I hope....could always have a few more stangs to beat up on!!:D

John, which corner was this in?

Given your success with NEW tires this weekend....I am looking for a nice set of street/rain tires. I pretty much destroyed the rears with all the rev limiter hits in 2nd and 3rd gears all day.....:D

I don't think it was all that wet!!!:D

I could host it but my new computer is not setup for video. I need to find the software from my old computer and move the card over. I did not take any video though. I wish I had my camera in the car though as you would have been able to see just how much time I spent sideways..!!!

Matt, if you ever want to sell that card and software let me know. Also, we need to hook up one night and check out the vids in my garage. We've got a few things to talk about.....;)

Hey!!! How the hell did you get stuck in class Y? Looks like an error which only bumps me one spot lower.

Oh well, The next event will be a little different.....if it is dry!!!

The card I had was a cheapo $40 ATI card that worked great for what I did with it. With your camera and that card, you could probably do even better given my old computer was slow as chit which limited the quality and frame rate.
