DFWstangs 1st anual Motorcycle riders GTG

Come one come all ;)

As of now, its looking like the 1st weekend of May is a good canidate; a long enough time off to plan for it and not too far away.

I'm doing some research for selecting a meet up spot, route, and destination. Hopefully, we can get some good exposure to the site, meet other DFWstangs riders, and have a nice photo opp too!

I'll try and spread the word as best I can amongst my 2wheel buddies, you all do the same. Anyone that needs help fixing their bike before that time to get ready for the ride, let me know and I'll help if I can.

Looking forward to this guys, been wanting to set this up for some time now. Everyone post in thread if your interested;)

Honestly, race take off's are a cheap route to go. I picked up a set of 207's in near perfect shape for like 60 bucks about 6 months ago.

eBay is a good place to find these, there are usually a few folks on sportbike boards that supply these also.

im alright with criusung at 80 and the ocasional 115mph blast ,my bike is geard like a peter built and at 80 it is at like 3 grand . If you ride in the back with me dont ride on my right side .Ive given you fair warning some people say there ears hurt after riding beside or behind me.Left and in the front is okay :D

funny thing i actually bought a honda sabre 1100,ive did a few mods and ive gotten 64rwhp from it.Ive got the cobra drag pipes on it at the moment.For me i wanted a bike that was built to last that i wouldnt have to mess with alot and my honda fit the bill all the way down to the self adjusting rocker arms.

Update,

Lord willing, I should have a meet spot, route, and destination this week. I've been pretty busy w/ family/work lateley; sorry for the delay on details.

Considering this is DFWstangs...a ventral location between the 2 cities may be preferable for the meet spot, possibly HEB.

I'll chew around some diff. things this week and see if I can post up all the nitty gritty ASAP.

It seems nearly all bike shops favor closing on Mondays....

I've got the route map at home, just trying to figure out what chunk of it we should do. Also, I'm invetigating a cool destination spot, there are a few canidates but haven't nailed one down yet.

Is everyone in thread still interested? Due to about 1 million things I haven't been activley getting the details wrapped up on this, I'll should be able to hammer it out this weekend.

From there we head north into a section of the 'devil's thighbone', should a some good twisty fun for a couple of hours.

Toward the end of the route, we head south on US75 to the Blue Goose (exit Park). This is a cool bike friendly spot, should be fun.

We need to be at Scotts house by 12:15, 12:20 ish. We should probably meetup around 11:30, 11:40 ish. Then we'll make a safe, brisk stint up 35 to 114. That should give us enough time...

Alright since I work the 3rd shift I got the info on the weather. It looks like a go so far. Weather man says that the rain will come in late this afternoon and clear out by midday tomorrow. He goes on to state that the rain will be sparse and light Saturday Morning.

Should be intresting to say the least. lets be careful out there and have some fun. Oh yea, its gonna bee a cool one. Wear the jacket...

Honestly, it may be clear enough to ride now; it was comming down still at 8 am where Im at in NT.

I don't think i'd feel comfortable diggin into a corner today where we're gonna be; tomorrow should be fine.

I am very disappointed, but thats how it goes. Tomorrow I have to cover the analyst shift at my work for 10 hours. :mad:

I think a full on resched to next weekend is the best course of action; unfortunatley I'm going to be working saturday's now so SUNDAY would be pref. for me.

If anyone from this thread IS INTERESTED in riding tomorrow, i know you were mike, please PM me and we'll figure something out.

Seeing as it didn't go down today I think a good back out date some time in the near future would be good but tomorrow may be to short of notice for a good showing (and photo opp).

Thx for everyone's understanding, not what i had hoped for but thats life. Jose will be licenced soon enough, maybe we should wait till he is so we can have our fav. mod join ;)

I think this should be more than an annual thing. Make it a monthly thing until its starts getting cold or something. I've been riding for a year and hardly know anyone that rides except for friends I've known for awhile and would like to meet more riders. Right now my bike is down but I should have it rideable again within the next month. I just don't want to miss out on this because it is a once a year thing.

On a side note I just turned over 7K miles today on my 00 R6 and filled it up at an actual gas station instead of from a fuel tank today :D Couple of weird things though... I got the low fuel light to come on today but I've ridden not even 50 miles since I filled her up at home. Thinking that maybe I didn't fill it up enough :confused: Also the flat tire problem isn't that much of a problem right now. Took her up to Southwest Superbikes last Saturday to get her patched but the mechanic had already left for the day. Got caught up doing things all day and ran up there to late in the afternoon. Between airing her up on Saturday and this morning she has lost maybe 5 lbs of air. Weird.

dude, id HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend you not patch a tire, just trash it and get another one, ive seen what happens to patched tires, blowout at 80 mph and he went down, it wasnt pretty........

Agreed, Do not patch. Not recommended at all.

Talk to ScottJ about the M1 Sporttecs. He seems to like them a lot. Im going to buy some M1's for my bike soon. My rear is a bit worn. I did my first burn out the other day.... ;)

Im starting to get pissed off at my bike. It will run good one minute and then run like shit the next... UGGH I am going to tear it down, AGAIN, and clean the carbs, AGAIN. I really need to adjust my valves. I think that she will smooth out if I adjust them. Thats probably what my problem is...

have you check your airfilter..that was my buddys problem...also mabye you should re-jet it ?? plugs, wires?? side note I talked my buddy in to getting a 04 R6 whoo hoo...I am pickin it up for him on saturday! ..another rider


about my bike fuck ya...Thursday it will be a damn week..I am sure it is the freakin corner..cause they know it is under warrenty and getting all the stupid "paying" customers first....I have called everyday since I put it in ...also says ..it is "next" pfff bastards...if I could of got the parts free I would of done it myself! I am trying to remain patience on this ...but over a week and have not even looked at it come on !!!

Thats cool that your bro is getting an R6. ScottJ has made a believer out of me and the R6. Ive seen him ride it to the edge and then passed it one night. Luckily he had on full gear.
