Anyone else see this on Hardcore5.0? He ran a 6.435 @ 220.75 in qualifying. He wasn't able to back it up within 1% though. The closest he got to it in eliminations was a 6.59 @ 217. Still, that is freakin insane speed. NHRA Pro Stock what?

edit: Just found out that this was also at the legal weight limit for FFW @ 2,550lbs!!!

Impressive.

But don't knock NHRA Pro Stock. 500ci NA running within a half second of that is pretty phenomenal as well.

Oh, I'm not knocking them. I love Pro Stock and how close the races are.

I saw that also, I still remember when Pro 5.0 was still in the 8's and 9's. Man they've come a long way.

How much shit are you going to take out of context? This pass was done at an NHRA event in Comp Eliminator, and was also a record run. It is a far cry from NHRA Pro Stock. And where did you read that it was at full Pro 5.0 weight for a turbocharged vehicle?

I didn't take anything out of context. I read that he was at full weight there on the site's message board.

I'd think this would be as legit or more legit since its at an NHRA event.

There has been lots of talk about how similar Pro 5.0 cars are to Pro Stock cars. They both run similar times and run similar types of bodies/chassis.

That's about where the similarities end too, and the chassis are actually quite different on a 2500 HP Pro 5.0 turbocharged car and a N/A 1400 HP NHRA Pro Stocker. Yes it was at an NHRA event, and guess what, he failed to back it up! His next best time was a 6.59, and that's what NHRA is accepting as the record, not his faster time.

How about IHRA Pro Stock? 800ci and only one tenth faster. :D LOL

See, now THAT's what I like! I had that idea last year when FFW Pro 5.0 went nuts and allowed stretched bodies, Probes, T-Birds, etc. People were taking old IHRA Pro Stockers and running them in FFW Pro 5.0. I was thinking if someone had some cash, build a Top dawg IHRA car with a Ford motor/body and be able to run it in both FFW Pro 5.0 as well as IHRA Pro Stock AND WFC Pro 5.0(pays $35k to win!), and some of the Pro classes in those outlaw racing associations like what Tony Christian, Reiger, etc run in. And that's exactly what Tony Gillig did for this year, built a Big inch(I think 812ci) Ford and can pretty much run it every weekend of the year in some sort of class since it fits so many.

They are consistently .2 faster but they also don't have Warren Johnson, Darrel Alderman, Bo Nickens or Bruce Allen racing. If someone like Warren Johnson went over there they'd drop another couple of tenths in a year or so. IHRA is like a little brother to the NHRA, if you dominate there you step up like Scotty Cannon tried to do.
