I put one of those super sucker carb spacers on........can't say that it runs any better. But I did go down one the jet size today. My times are consistant for the two runs that I got in........

1st run

r/t.125
60'....1.861
1/8....8.208
mph...84.26

2nd run

r/t.292
60'....1.888
1/8....8.209
mph...84.59

I am still wheel hopping fairly bad. Just about rattles my fillings loose. But not to shabby......Just cant seem to break that 8.19 barrier:(

Need to stop the wheel hop, it is really bad on the rear end. I have a guy at work that his truck did the same thing, and a few days ago he broke the carrier in his truck and trashed everything except the housing in his rear end...

I tried traction bars............but it rode rough as shit and caused my tires to rub the upper part of the shocks. I just saw this guy with a charger at the track........he had leaf springs.........but he had a clamp about a foot or so behind his axle that clamped the leaf springs to gether. He said he greatly reduced his wheel hop. All it was was two pieces of flat bar that sandwhiched the leaf springs via two bolts. Ever hear of this?

What kind of tires are you on?

have you ever known anyone to use the radius rods off a firebird to try to fix the wheel hop. they said it worked on cars that were 290hp and below. it was a fix back in the late 60s to fix the wheel hop. i dont know if it works but i have heard of it before...

Exactly. Something is gonna break real soon if that keeps up.

Your leaf springs are "wrapping up" and then releasing causing the hop.

There are several ways to approach controlling wrap up. Cheapest option is to install some of those clamps on your leaf springs (although they are usually installed on the front side of the spring; wouldn't hurt to try them on the rear also). This makes the spring more "bar" like. Next option is to try some slapper bars with the snubber adjusted pretty tight against the spring. Another option is to install some caltrack bars.

I think I will get some AR flat bar from work and make me a set and see how the work. Any draw backs that I need to know about when using these clamps?

At least I could put them on at the track with a simple wrench and take them off for street cruising. Best thing I have heard of yet. If they work.:)

Get you some Slide a Links! Unlike the Cal-tracs, the Slide a Links use a polyuerethane busing on the lower arm that reduces the brutality on your springs. With a turn of the wrench, you can adjust them for the street and then with a turn of the wrench.... adjust for dragstrip pounding.

Bet you could coax a 1.5 or 1.6 60' with a set on your Camaro.

Ok.........the rear is self explanatory............what does the front connect to? 324.00 a set doesn't sound to unreasonable.

The front of the Slide A Link? It comes with an aluminum front spring eye bushing and a fabricated mount that will bolt up to the front of the spring with your existing front spring mount.

Rumor i've heard is that guys are bending the slide-a-links at a relatively low HP level (450). You also get no sympathy from CE when this happens. For the same money you can get caltracks.

That's a new one to me. Wonder if Calvert started that rumor? I do know a guy who put the Cal tracs on his first gen Camaro and it was so brutally unforgiving on his leaf springs that he had to get them re-arched and switched to the Slide a Links and no problems since. His car is blown and makes about 600 HP.
