Is there anyway to change my P.O.S Celeron processor to like a Pentium 4 without erasing everything i have? And does anyone have Ram for sale, i cant do anything with this crappy Compaq, it keeps saying out of memory, and makes me do disk clean ups all the time.

if its a compaq your probably not going to be able to do much. You might be able to move up a little in mhz of the same family IE p3 900 might be able to go to the 1.3-1.4ghz but p4 no. Usually a processor swap requires a new board, ram, and possibly power supply. most likely with the costs of new systems if you look at all that you will be better off just buying a new box.

Dell does have some pretty good deals and you can build a reasonable clone system for around $500 I think if youve got a monitor.

I'm debating upgrading mine but it runs fine for what I need.

You might also consider upping the ram like you mentioned and possibly wiping and reloading a newer OS. I did an overhaul like this for a coworker for a little over $100 and now she has a fresh new pc with updated software and and all the patches and I tried to tweak it as much as I could for her.

also depending on the board but most likely he can stay in the same family and add a few mhz

If you change too much hardware you will have to "reauthorize" XP with microsoft...:( run belarc advisor and find out which mobo you have and you can figure out what options you have...
