Never really got into this aspect of PC's but took in an old Matrox Rainbow Runner/Millenium combo on trade some time back and thought I would get it out and play with it.

Had to image up a 98 box as Matrox has EOL the RR studio product. Got it up and going and am ready to start pulling in video. I am wanting to convert some VHS tapes to DVD-R or CD-R (SVCD) format.

Anybody done this or have advice on what capture software to use? I don't expect to improve the VHS quality of the oriignal work; am just looking to transfer VHS to a more efficient media that can be played on my DVD player.

Any advice?

I have tried this out a couple of times with music videos that I had recorded on my PVR. I just captured the video using Microsoft Movie Maker. I had to go back and re-encode into mpeg2 using TMPGEnc Video Encoder, but it came out looking OK. I am sure there are better ways of doing it but I just used what I had on hand at the time.
