anyone ever have hip problems from running? i assume it is from running, but i guess it could be from pilates as well. anyways, this is my 6th week of sticking to my schedule of running at least 5 times a week!!!! (pats self on the back)
my hip started bothering me a little about two weeks ago- just the left side joint. Then when doing pilates and some leg lifts on the ground, i could hear it pop everytime i moved it. It wasn't painful, just annoying. This weekend though, it started to hurt, by Monday, it was really bad, constant joint pain. I had ran sat, sun and monday, so i took tuesday and yesterday off. It felt better. Ran 1.5 this morning and it is aching again, but not as bad as before.
any stretches i can do that would help this? is it common or something i should have checked out? It is still popping with every step i take, and you can feel it and hear it.

Do you run on a treadmill or outside?
Also, inside or outside, or general hip area?

Most likely it's your SI joint which means there's inflamation in your hip that the joint is trying to compensate for...I'd suggest seeing a chiro - being that they can typically manipulate it and releive some of the pressure which helps w/ re-alignment ;) *nudge nudge*
*tho on a serious note we see lots of 'runners' w/ this problem and well it CAN lead to more serious problems if not taken care of...ie: bone spurs...*tho you'd first need to find out if that's even the case.

It is on the outside hip area, left hip, not really muscle pain, but more like joint pain. And the popping is driving me nuts!
Kimmay- I didn't even think about your work. i might call you- pm me with what a typical appt would run etc.

Seeing a chiropractor wouldnt be a bad idea, Michelle. Do you have one in your gym? The one I use at my gym does such a great job, I know I wouldnt be playing football without him.
Good luck.
Ice and ibuphrophen would be a good start.
