What do you guys use when ripping audio cd's? I ripped a couple using Ogg, didnt notice to big a difference, but when ripping stuff at 256k I dont think quality is going to be a huge difference, just file size. Ogg files were a bit smaller, but not enough for me to convert.

ive never messed with ogg, So i will have to go with mp3. Although I still like windows media formats the best, but since starting to use linux.. i do not use them or encode them any longer.

Man, I can tell such a HUGE difference between p2p downloaded 128k junk files and my ripped 256k files.

Alot files download off p2p sound like crap. I think what people do is if they have a file that is 56k or 96k, they try to re-encode it at 128k hoping it will sound better.

actually i like mp3pro it is smaller, and has better indexing on the mp3s. the only problem you have to have a mp3pro player other wise it dosen't sound as good.
