I have found myself wondering why so many people are going "KirkBuilt" these days. Then it dawned on me...

With KirkBuilt...doesn't matter what size turbo you have, they always run the same. No need to spend big bucks on the fancy turbo kit.

No need for expensive and difficult tig welding....break out the mig, we can fill that gap! Turbo headers??? Of course not, we have some macs we could flip around.

Kirkbuilt had his roots in bracket racing....so he designs all his turbo kits to run low 7's. No faster, no slower.....just consistantly in the low 7's.

No real need for expensive or fancy racing transmissions. If you go KirkBuilt....just keep that 5spd or whatever tranny came stock. You might make excuses for a few months about how your turbo car will go ungodly fast with an Auto setup right....don't bother. It will run the same....see above.

Have a mustang and don't know how to fend off those cam only ls1's? The anwser is KirkBuilt..........If you are gonna get beat, you gotta let your turbo cool down. If you get treed...the turbo didn't spool....if it didn't pull the first half of the track, you have the wrong tranny. Excuses are included with every KirkBuilt kit.....at a charge of course

So not only does your mustang turn into a low 7 sec crowd pleaser.....you get cool dyno sheets, that awesome turbo sound....and you get people on the net all over your nutz because you have a "KirkBuilt" kit. No wonder so many people are going fast these days....its Kirkbuilt!!!

Did you miss the part where my Kirkbuilt turbo kit went 6.22 @ 114? Not that it's blazing fast but it's much faster than a 7 second pass...

I have a 13# spring in the wastegate, no boost controller, no timing in it, left soft, and the tune still needs some work.

If you want your LS1 to blow up, take it to AMS and the Detonation Brothers will fix you right up. They will put a dyno tune on that bitch so lean that you are guaranteed to have the best dyno sheet in your cirlcle of LS1 buddies. Hey, it doesn't matter if it blows up or falls apart 10 minutes after it leaves, you have the dyno sheet to prove that your LS1 was king for a day!

See the Detonation Brothers for the latest in One Hit Wonder power tuning. You want to impress you LS1 buddies with a bad ass time slip? You want to put up the top number at any local track? The Detonation Brothers have just what you need. Just make sure you bring your car to the track on the trailer cause you won’t be driving it home.

One thing is for sure, Kirkbuilt is certainly better than COXMARSH built....you can TIG weld all you want but if the car doesn't ever get to the track, what's the point?

Look who came out of the woodwork.....I saw you posted up some antiques for sale in the parts section. You couldn't resist poping in here and helping out your butt buddy. When was the last time you made it to the track with your junky ass ride?? Last 3-4 times I have been at ennis, I have collected some kind of 9 sec timeslip...be it the silver car or my bike. Same for kennadale. You collected anything more than dust off that nasty 1990 blower??

COX: “Ohh WOW man… That didn’t sound very good”
MARSH: “Yea, man, it made a lot of smoke that time.”
COX: “Ohhh WOW man…. Smoke is good man!!
MARSH “HAHAHAHA, yea, this smoke is reeeeeaaaalllll good! Why is the smoke blue though?”
COX: “HAHAHAHAH…. Who cares, this Columbian gold we’re tokin is white.”
MARSH: “Naw man, look there is oil and water everywhere.”
COX: “Ohh WOW man… I guess we’ll have to put some more hard block in and hope it makes it out of the shop like last time.”
MARSH & COX: “BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!”

Since 98 KIRKBUILT :) I haven't gotten the Z done because I am not gonna throw it together and have it be a piece of turbo junk....after I have spent so much time and money on it. Sure..it hasn't run it awhile....but I have had so many 6 sec cars since then to play with and improve my skills. I have had 6sec timeslips from SEVERAL of my cars, yet you have trouble getting it from one of yours??? Give a me a break....go back to flipping headers and mig welding.

I know that you finally had to get cut off of mama's apron strings and the only thing that you can afford to own that goes nines is a $10,000 bike....but talking shit about the things I have isn't going to make you any less of a loser.

Maybe when you get a real job and you stop smoking every paycheck you get, we can have us a race....

StangTamer does not count. but yes my car runs, is it fast? no. will it ever be fast enough that it will impress anyone, most likely not. but i have goal, and when i reach that goal, i will be satisfied. if i want to go faster, i can do what they do, i drive some one elses car.

I'm just telling you what lowthreeohz is probably thinking. You don't have to explain yourself to me. You don't talk much trash, except to Stangtamer.

However, 90% of the people have talked smack without a running car.

No, not Kirkbuilt- but I would have to say Andrew's car oughtta fly if he can get a little more boost and work out the fuel issues. 6.20's aint to shabby for only the second or so time out..I'm sure it has more than a 6.20 in it anyways.....If it is indeed only spitting out 13- 14 or so psi right now....

and why is TIG welding so much better then MIG welding. i mean it is not like they are welding Stainless or something.

Andrew
02-02-2004, 12:55 PM
You can MIG stainless too... as far as I'm concerned, TIG is just prettier in that you only feed filler material in if you want it, vs. MIG's constant wire feed. If the weld keeps the gases inside the pipes, who cares?

I don't see any other advantages. Can anyone give me a reason why?

The KirkBuilt Mustangs:
-My single turbo car: 6.80s 1/8th and high 10s 1/4.
-93LXHorse's single turbo car: 6.70s 1/8th and mid-high 10s 1/4.
-Andrew's single turbo car: 6.20s 1/8th so far (low boost/timing).

All I did was fab the turbo kits. The rest of the hard work to get these cars running like they are go to their respective owners.

Yea, these cars are all pieces of shit. LMAO!!

exactly, and dialing in a turbo combo is a lot more involved than a cam only LS1... especially when you don't have an easily programable EFI system at your disposal.
