I went out to Denton yesterday and made some passes....
1st pass: Stuuddddering Stanley was still there! I ran a 7.11 @ 93 mph.
a few passes later we're getting it to clear up and it'll run up to 6100 before it starts stuttering, but that's it. In this condition it ran 6.59 @ 103.
Clean up the fuel map some more and back out... 15 psi, 21 degrees total timing, 90 degree ACT's, 118 octane, pussy launch. It actually pulled up to 6800 rpm (still popping and banging a bit, but getting close!). It ran 6.2 @ 114. I think another 3-4 passes and I'll be ready to throw some timing at it!
Seriously, I think that this setup will run every bit of what the blower setup did without changing anything but the tune.
The problem ended up being that there was WAAAY too much fuel in the tune up. The engine would misfire because it was so rich, causing the O2 to read lean. It, in turn, would throw more fuel at the engine causing a vicious cycle. The datalog read good as far as A/F, but it wouldn't rev because it was misfiring. I took out over 30% fuel and it started cleaning it! It's still popping a little and the FAST is now taking out all of the fuel that I allow it to. A little more tuning and all will be good. :)
