I just wanted to know who was driving the Red SS camaro with billet grill. Nice looking car. I was the one driving the 03 smoke grey Mach 1. you said you had a few things done to your car but you wouldn't tell me what it was so i said mine was bone stock want to run. thats when you passenger the side seat driver was talking shit that your car was going to smoke mine. well since I have already race 3 other SS camaro's and a few WS6's and I haven't lost to any of them. not saying I smoked them or anything but i did win every race. you told me there was a first for everything. well we raced the first time I didnt even take off my taction control and still beat you. so you want to do it again. thats when i really got on it i dont remember how far in front I was i was thinking it might be about 3 or more lenths in front. that was when you just turned around and left. I guess my stock mach didnt get smoked anytime you want to try it again let me know.

I have raced those ls1 from a roll and dead stop they have a better chance from a roll everytime I ran one from a stop I took off on his ass and pulled them by about 2 lenths off the start but like you said it could possibly be the driver of there car but so far my record for ls1's are 5 wins 0 losses can't be that many bad drivers out there but who knows there might be

I dont know if all of them were 6 speeds but i do know that at least 5 of them were the closes race I had was with a WS6 my nose was just a few feet in front of him I dont know what all he had done but i do know he had borla exhaust on it. after the race he gave me the thumbs up and asked what I had done to it. It might be that my car is just fast. sometimes they come stock like that.

I hear you.....but like I said...you will definetely get walked stock to stock....especially top end..just look at it this way you have the same engine as the 01 cobra with I think a little bit more HP..and 01 cobras are no match for a 98 and up SS...but nonetheless good props to your car!:) :)

The engine is not the same diff cams,intake,heads. Cars are not the same either. Mach1 has diff gears, live axle vs irs, a little lighter than the cobra and it's suspension is a different setup all they way around. If you get a headache reading his post's well then don't read them. If fire burns you don't keep putting your hand in it do you.;)

Its still only putting out a little more HP than an 01 cobra!;) ...and its not enought to keep up with an ls-1 top end! You can say all you want and I can say all I want bu the truth is mach1's are nice cars but not enough to take out a stock SS bro. Its all in the drivers!

Maybe I'm stupid but it almost allways comes down to the driver doesn't it? Just like anything else it looks good on paper but you never know untill it is practiced in real world situations.

Yes... it does come down to the drivers...I have driven a bonestock 02 Camaro SS! and a bonestock mach1....when I was shopping around for my GT the guyz at westway let me drive a brand new mach.same color as yours....It felt okay....and a couple of months later when my dad was shopping around for hes new 03 chevy the guyz at van chevrolet let me test drive a pre-owned 02 SS with the anneversary package 6-speed.. and I was cruising down 1-35 and man that car felt way sweeter..not to mention how fast it reaches high speeds....so I know personally that mach1's are no match for an SS! I'm not bashing mach1's cause their sweet rides!

Magazine racing I get it now. They usually compare new cars to new cars in those popular mags your talking about so there is no way to compare the 2 cars right off the showroom floor. I saw that a Subaru sti ran better times than an 03 cobra in one mag so the sti should beat an ss.;) Mags are allways accurate aren't they?

the mach 1 doesn't ride like an SS because it's not the ride in a Mach is way smoother than an SS camaro so as you are getting to high speed it doesn't feel like you are going as fast because the ride quality is so smooth chevy's just ride ruffer. that might be why you thought the SS got up quicker.

Yeeessssss.....the new 300 HP Subaru STI Can smack a bone stock SS! But its okay cause Subaru is 1/3 owned by GM if you wan't to get precise!;)

Yous should always check what sti you are talking about the old 225 HP STI was no match for the 03 cobra but the new 300 HP is alot quicker and runs 13.0's to 13.3's bone stock whick needless to say is fairly quick! :rolleyes:

But I thought 03 cobras ran high 12's bone stock according to a few mags. I was also under the impression that this is the first year for the sti the others are just a wrx. If you check out the mags several of them have ran 13.1's- 13.6's in the Mach1.:rolleyes: :rolleyes:

I went to my friends house today he has a 98 SS just got his trans mount fixed he is running 3.73 gears, K&N, flowmaster exhaust and hyper tech power programmer we went do 360 where it ends way past I20 and ran about 1/4 I just beat him by maybe 2 feet went all the way to 4th gear but he got me out of the hole a little bit as I spun alot but caught him quick and stayed neck and neck just about the whole race but I was a nose in front so thats all that matters. in the end

The march 03 mm&ff say they got a 13.177 & backed it up with a 13.135 both @105+ mph and also the july 03 5.0 13.19 @106.7. Motortrend Lol

All I know is that I have a Z28 with minor mods, small cam, lid and it is an automatic. I got a hold of a Mach 1 for the first time today. Going from a 40 punch he jumped me by a car, then once the power set in and my automatic caught up, I passed by him with ease and put about 3 cars on him by 85MPH. It jumped hard, but once my power band hit he was finished. That is a fact.

C5R is a one purposely-built racecar that is not available for street purpose and the only thing that it has in common with the street corvette is the emblem’s it wears. By the way at least Ford won the top class at Lemans and not the Busch car class of Lemans that the corvette won. The only way that Chevy gets to win a Lemans race is they have too run in the lower GTP class and avoid the Top prototype classes. You need to sale your Mustang and get your self a Gm product since you seem to be one of their cheerleaders you would be happier person and us Mustang guys would be happier also to lose you as a Mustang owner. They are nice cars, but they are just like the 99-01 Cobras that F bodies have been dragging for the last 5 years. 03-04 Cobras are definately a different story. But all it takes is bolt ons to run with them for an f body.

I have won some races between SS' and ws6's at the track and off. I have also lost to a few, simple mods and they are in the 12's. Most of the time it is a drivers race.

The Hooker super comp long tubes and the 00' Cobra R 6-sp helps me surprise alot of the LS1's on the top end. It is really funny when they hit 3rd and they think they are fixing to walk me, they get the look that something is wrong with there car.;)

Since I have been to the track once or twice, here's my .02 cents!! As a former owner of a Z28, and seeing millions of them at the track. The fast stock ones run 13.30's stock!!!!!! They aren't that fast. Sorry:( :( :( Anyone who say's differently, doesn't have a STOCK LS1:)

Well after posting 3 times...........I finally read all thru the posts. You guys are pissing in the wind. I have raced stock LS1's and Stock Mach 1's. I say stock...........catback, Nittos, K&N. These two cars are equal...............The Mach 1 may be one up. 8.3's in the eighth is what Defangedsailors ran. I give him the good driver mod. (The old fart can drive) I am a true chevy guy............but the mustangs are finally putting down some good times. Both are fast.

Hey SSMAN It's finally nice to see that a chevy guy will give props when its due. I can say that both cars are fast at stock but I agree with you, the Mach 1 will pull at the end of the 1/8 or 1/4 mile race by a little. I have seen where the Denten 1/8 track is hosting a Ford vs. Chevy shoot out Sat. Jan. 31 the last Sat. this month I'm going to try to be there if I can get off work. I think they start the 15th of this month. (thursday) Typically thursdays are 10.00 night anyone one except trailor cars, Friday is test and tune......15.00. As far as giving props..............I just shoot it straight when it comes to how a car runs. They run good. Anyone that says different either don't know what they are talking about or they are just talking shit. Heavier car/smaller motor = hauling ass. Once again......I am impressed

Well I tried to go to kennedale today but the track was closed this really sucked because I really wanted to get some times down on my car. I guess it was because of the weather I didn't think it would be closed because the streets were dry out but O-Well I'll try to go next weekend

Guess you dont read to much. Every article wrote compares the 03 to the Zo's. The Mach 1 is as fast if not faster than a stock LS1, unless we are comparing Wednesday to Friday cars, or some sort of weird stipulation.:rolleyes:

I have had my share of losses to ls1's, stock and modded.

My official opinion is:

Stock for stock at the track it is a drivers race.

Stock for stock on the street I would give the edge to the ls1.

Modded depends on the mods, I have seen more ls1's in the 12's than I have Mach 1's. So I would give the edge to modded ls1's.

There are several Mach 1's that are in the 12's now with very basic mods, the later Mach 1's are putting down (stock) an average of 10hp/10tq over the earlier models like mine.

I am in the dfw area, I will try and make it out to a track before Feb. 21st. I am adding a wet kit towards the end of next week. I have also changed the suspension setup. I still want to run a 12 n/a so I will not always be racing on the nitrous.

Well in my opinion both are fast cars and it does come down to a driver race who ever the better driver is will win but from what I have done and seen I'll take the Mach 1 I have race 4 ss camaro's, and 2 ws6's and I have not lost to any of these cars this was when my car was bone stock. Since I have installed my catback I have not raced anyone yet but it does pull a little bit harder at top end RPMs but if you really want to know who will win a race go to the track and race each other then you will find out I'm going out to Kennedale this Sunday and going to run mine for times out there. If there is anyone who wants to run me come on out. My car is stock except for the catback I installed 2 days ago. If your LS1 is stock or close to it I will be more than happy to run you out there.
