This season hopefully will be a good one for the Hatch....

I put a C4 with a transbrake and converter in. I am also switching to a different exhaust housing on the turbo, from a .81 to a .96, for better airflow out of the turbo.

I also got rid of the entire old exhaust system... and am putting a single 3" pipe on there witha Bullet muffler. It should move alot more air now.

Also changing out the seats and putting a 6 point roll bar in there......

I got a built C4 with all good stuff inside, a converter, transbrake, deep pan, cooler, and flexplate for $1800.00

Proven setup, the guy had it freshened up before I got it. In fact, everything is brand new inside it. The case is new, too...

The converter should be real close. The car it came out of was making around 800 lb / ft tq., but with a heavier car.

If anything it will be a tad tight, we'll see.

really nothing in between that i know of for that turbo. It will be a great choice, specially for a big headed windsor.

Jeremy, if I'm in full boost by 2900 RPM with the .81, what do you think the .96 will need to get it going?

You think with a .96 and the straight 3" exhaust it's gonna free up a significant amount of power?

Maybe even sooner , your a/r is more of a restriction than anything, probally no higher than 3300,and if it is it is because your downpipe is too small, yes the open exhaust should help. what do you have for a boost controller?

But that's still a significant jump in A/R and they will respond very differently to the same converter.Originally posted by 93LXHORSE You think with a .96 and the straight 3" exhaust it's gonna free up a significant amount of power? I hope that's not the size of the downpipe coming out of the turbo.. because it will be choking the power if it is. When I had a 2.3 turbo, the "big guys" were running 3" downpipes to make 300 to the wheels. But I'm gonna assume the downpipe is bigger than that, and you are breaking it into dual 3" pipes after that, correct?

The outlet of the Turbine is 3", the flange opening is 3", the downpipe is 3", and it will connect to a single 3" pipe - then go to a 3" Dynomax Bullet with a turndown behind the drivers seat.

I have a knob style boost controller. A bleeder/regulator type setup.

ditch it and get a electronic, installed them on to cars ,and they both picked up time and build boost faster, we picked up 2-tenth's w/ the greddy profecbspec2 on the red car, i argued that it would not make a difference,I was wrong!

Right now I need to get by with this controller. It seems to hold boost right where I need it to...

.... besides, as it is, I will be living in my car soon cuz I am depleting funds ! I still need 2 sets of tires and a set of light wheels !
