I'm posting this from Mozilla on Redhat 9.x

lol

In the process of setting up a 3 web server cluster (load balancing) and a 2 node mysql cluster (fault tolerance).

The load balance cluster is pretty cool, add a server, little configuration and walla another server in the mix.

Of course, at about 4K less than adding a Win server to the mix. :D

I'm actually connected from this notebook with Redhat 9 and a Linksys Wireless PCMCIA card.

I had to manually config the card since RH9 didn't recognize it, which took some learning.

There were a few things I had to do manually on this notebook, but its an old Amerinote (CompUSA brand). It's node two in the web server cluster. POS, but for my purpose at the moment its fine.

I even download and compiled OpenSSL, Apache, PHP and installed them. And wrote my first mod_ for Apache.

I'm a linux nerd now. :D

LOL.

I never dogged it. Only defended Windows. :D

I knew Linux had its place, just a matter of getting there. I don't do anything on computers worked related unless I can see the $$$$ in the background.

We have a couple of "high availability" apps we need to get running on a subscription basis. No handholding, just give us the license fee and leave us alone until a server goes down.

Linux/PHP/MySQL fits the bill and we'll be able to get them the entire system up and running for less than 15K (with me doing the programming, technically I'm free!). Similiar system with Windows servers would run probably double.

so these clusters... in your case, 3 servers acting as 1?

If you need any help, let me know, I'm free to a point :p

You should've just gave it to us, we probably could've done it for much less than $15k here at SDI.
