It is nice how they can't spell Camaro!!!!

Adam, I definitely want to bring my car out to one of these once its back together. Though it wont really fit into any class, (well, cept for AIX which I would NOT be competative) I could at least run around during the time trial time or do that High Performance Driving School.

aggie97 - as long as Mustang is spelled correctly, who cares?? :D

Seriously though, thanks for bringing it to our attention. It was just fixed.

TRAXX - definitely bring your car out for the HPDE stuff. Any track time you run with NASA counts towards your competition license anyway, so you don't lose anything. Your car doesn't have to fit into ANY class, and more then likely would be better suited towards HPDE anyhow. To actually race in a NASA class, you and the car must meet specific safety guidelines, and for a street car, many times that isn't doable. That's why I bought this: :D

NASA is offering group discounts for car clubs ( regardless of make and model ). If this is something you or your club is interested in, please contact me!

I am interested in the HPDE but did not see what the schedule is for 04 yet. I imagine many groups are just now looking ahead to 04 and schedules will probably develop in December.

What stages of HPDE are there? Also, what tracks is NASA planning on going to. If I remember, they stopped going to TWS but I might be thinking of 2002.......I have been really busy.

Also, as far as the HPDE sessions go, what brake setups are recommeded for a 3400 lb 2000 GT. I am currently looking to upgrade to Cobra brakes and maybe the Baer Eradispeed rotor package. I guess you would want to bring an extra set of pads as well. The stock brakes on the GT are OK but fade after some heavy use......of course the LSCBMW ax's are not exactly slow parking lot courses!!!! Brakes are now my worry as I am getting MUCH faster and approaching the car's limits of repeatibility under braking.

I think the HPDE would be a good start for me so I don't develop any MORE bad habits. I am trying my hardest right now to break my habit of driving with one hand on the wheel and the other on the gearshift........ Heal and toe braking is what i am working on now and I have to adjust my pedals to get that to work for me.
They are just too far apart.

Post the upcoming schedule of events and prices and we will see which ones I can get to. I think sometime in March my car should be where I want it in preperation and power. Then it is time to get serious!!!!

My '88 GT is about 3300# and runs with Cobra brkes up front and T-bird Turbo Coupe brakes in the rear.

The schedule was only recently announced for 2004. It's available on the NASA Texas website (http://www.nasatx.com/main.asp), but here ya go:

MSR March 6-7
TWS April 3-4
MSR June 5-6
MSR July 10-11
Hallett August 14-15
TWS Sept 25-26

Basically, they have 2 groups right now - HPDE, and the RaceCraft school. HPDE is just that, and RaceCraft is primarily for people working on their competition license.

If your on a tight budget, simply upgrade your pads, and bleed the whole system for an OT event. If you can afford the costs, do the Cobra stuff in front, and leave the back alone. Stock suspended Mustangs can't use a great deal of rear brake, so spending the $$ on rear Cobra brakes isn't really worth it. Upgrade the pads in back, but thats about it.

If your really interested in a set of Eradispeed rotors, PM or email me. I have a set on my 86 GT that are very lightly used that I'd be willing to deal with you on. I don't need them on the street car any longer:

http://home.comcast.net/~texas-cmc-05/86gt-1.jpg

They are the PLAIN Eradispeed rotors - no slots, no holes, no dimples, no zinc-coating. In excellent shape, no cracks or warping. ~5000 street miles, 1 very light OT event ( done in the pouring rain ).

Definitely run HPDE - and all of your track time with NASA counts towards your comp license, so you don't lose anything.

I believe NASA charges $260 for the entire weekend, and I don't think the prices have gone up for '04, but don't quote me on that.

BTW - don't worry about power. Trust me - at our driver meeting the other night, a very new driver attended. Been into drag racing for a long time, has a ~600hp Mustang. Took a ride with a few friends @ TWS on Sunday, and realized a stock-ish motor will do just fine. :D

Well, my car isn't exactly "stock" suspended any more. I have the full Maximum Motorsport rear package with TA and panhard and the H&R SuperRace springs with MM TA springs in the rear. Tokico 5 ways all around and the car is an entirely different animal compared to stock.

Power mods are already done, I just have to drop the cams back in. Shouldn't be too far over 300 rwhp as I already have trouble putting that much power down on street tires.

Adam, I will PM you later about the eradispeeds. I would actually prefer the solid faced rotors since most other warp and crack far too easily. Are they for a Full cobra setup front and rear?

For the rear brakes I was looking into the new caliper hangers, rotors and pads only since the rear caliper is the same as the cobra.

With the added speed the car will be capable of due to suspension and power, I don't want to scrimp on brakes........

I will probably try doing the one in March at MSR and maybe the one at TWS in April.......I have to see how the rest of the year goes though....

AP, I plan on staying ahead of you, John and Bob and hopefully a few more at the BMW events here in the near future!!!!

The Eradispeeds I have are only for the fronts, no rear Eradispeed rotors.

Pics taken when I bought them:

Rotor pic 2 (http://home.comcast.net/~texas-cmc-05/temp/rotor2.jpg)

Let me know if you're interested. I can have them off the car in an hour.
