Belated Fri. night @ Ennis report!

I met a guy in a White 03 Cobra with white wheels and ~480rwhp/520rwtq. It ran a mid/high 12 @ 114mph or something, but he was shifting very slow. He said he is on DFWStangs sometimes. There was also a black 10th Anny 03 Cobra as well, but I didn't see him run.

There was a new "bone stock" Silverado SS that ran a 12.9 @ 107. ;)

I was impressed with a Dodge SRT. 13.0 @ 104mph. :eek: Some people should look out. Although, he was quite annoying with the blow off valve in the pits. If he needed to move up 5 feet, he punched it at full throttle and braked hard so the blow off valve would make some noise. :rolleyes:

If I saw it correctly, a white Eclipse ran a 11.7 against a new silver Dodge Viper that ran a mid 12 @ 118mph.

And a gutted fiberglass CRX race car ran a 10.9 @ 120mph. It couldn't have wieghed 1600 lbs.

Rice is getting faster.

Nope, it was silver with "1BD SRT" license plate and MT Slicks with about 5 psi in them.

There was also a Green Bullitt and a riced out new GT that killed it twice during the burnout. lol

at ultimate street night on oct 24th there was a crap load of neons there and i'd say quite a few were running 13's (whether it be high or lows hard to say no times up on street night)
i raced a low 13 second civic ... he broke his axle the next run.. i think i saw 3 fwd cars break axles

The pass the eclipse beat the Viper was like 11.7@124 I think. He also went 12.4@128 but he lit up all 4 off the start and shifted into 2nd and turbo wasn't spooled hence the low ET. That was at 27psi. He is still working out the bugs etc. Prevoius weekend he went 11.2@123.5 hitting the speed limiter, else he might have ran a 10.xx He made a few other passes at various mph's, but had various issues like the wg hose popping off :D

He also went 12.1@118 on basically 16psi. As for that Neon, his bov sure was loud, but he/she ? wass cutting some nice 60's.

I thought that SS was spraying due to the way the engine sounded and the way his truck took off midway between the 1.8th mile and the starting line. There was a pretty nice yellow z06 that went 11.1@129 I think it was, but he later broke at the starting line.

It wasnt got stripes was it? He usally runs on Black rims with dr's in to rear and yellow tape to keep the rubber off the car.

That first run I saw the Eclipse run a 11.5 @ 125. Gutted CRX was 11.2's all night long. Saw a fox body with white hood run in the 10's and I think it was auto by the way he was launchin. I ran a BIG 14.0 @98, oh well I had a good time. Did anyone see that guys rear end come off???

The silver SRT-4 is a friend's car. Last time he dynoed it, it put down 260 hp and 290 ft lbs at the front wheels. He was trying to get a 12 second pass. He has ran a few 13.0 passes, but not a 12.9999 yet. Ohh, but it's still just a Neon!


By chance, is that Chevy SS truck silver? I ran against a silver full size truck on October 24th at Ennis. He ran a 13.8 to my 13.9!! I was thinkin the whole way down the track, "Damn my car feels slow!".

One of the SRT-4s(a red one) at street night on the 24th ran a 12.4 @ 111 mph.

That SS Silverado sounds like its movin, but i still think lightnings are cooler.

Those SRT-4s are very nice,i hope dodge comes out with an srt-6 or srt-8 (6 and eight cylinder, respectively) cars, those would be fun! Make the SRT-6 run like a grand national, and the srt-8 , a high-comp hemi.

I agree and I've told him that his BOV is WAY too loud. He doesn't care. He has the Turbo XS RFL blow off valve. It's one of those that is loud no matter how much you rev the motor. Even when under vacuum and you let off the gas it is loud.


I like mine MUCH better. It's WAY quieter till you get over 5 psi of boost.

i really dont think that cobra made 480/520...somebody was bullshittin. my car ran 12.66@ 114 on a 2.1 when i put down 380/370.

91CavGT, it's obvious that he likes it loud and likes to show it off. Not stomping on the gas pedal would have solved the problem. IMHO, it's just the ricey thing to do like the Civics in the pits reving thier junk. One time is fine, but 20 times is just being an attention whore. If I were running 13s, I wouldn't draw attention to myself.

Guys, the 03 Cobra spun on the line and was shifting slow. Maybe I saw him run his worst time? :confused:

i put down 451/458, and i would hope to trap 118-119, and thats cuz i shift into 4th just before the traps...also even if the guy was spinning and shifting slow, with that much power he should trap a lot better than 114, thats horrible for that much power

Cool downs are not in the LS1 dictionary since we have aluminum blocks without blowers or turbos.

BTW, I saw the white CRX that was at the races on Friday in Motor Trend this morning. In the issue with the GTO on the cover there is an introduction to rice. They must have took a bunch of pics at an event at Ennis.

His car does put those numbers down. He is still learning to how to drive it at the track. I have no idea why the '03 guys around here are so much slower than the Houston group. I was at 464/488 and put down a 11.6@123 on street tires (Yoko AVS Sports)at HRP. I ran a 7.2@98 in the 1/8th on the Nittos last month and that is slow compared to the KB cars. I am sure with a line lock and some ETs that I could touch the low 11s at HRP. Is Ennis that bad or is it in the driving?

It's a combination of the difference in track prep and 600ft elevation between Ennis and HRP.

He was also on street tires and must have had a stock rearend/gears since he had to shift right before the traps.

I have not been to Ennis in this car yet so I cannot comment on the track prep differences although the Houston guys only ran a tenth or so slower at FFW this year compared to their HRP times.
The 600ft elevation has not made a real difference to me in how my car runs (still slow but not slower). :p
I have 3.73s gears but still have to go into fourth before the traps. This car does not repsond well unless you powershift also, have beat a couple of KB cars due to that one little difference.
I hope to go to Ennis on the 22nd so I will find out what is going on.

Well, i run about 116mph with 310hp so with 450hp i should be up there somewhere.

Garland math is closer than Ls1 math! :p
