View Full Version : Had one of those "wouldn't have believed it if I wasn't there to see it myself" kills

Was coming back from my g/f's casa, and was rolling down one of the busier/3-lane roads headed back home, and I spotted a white '03 cobra a few cars ahead in the far left lane. Well, I sped up and got behind him, and when it was clear, I pulled up next to him..mainly to admire the car. It was an older guy, probably in his later 40's, possibly early 50's..and, he downshifted and kept jumping the car. Well, I didn't bite due to traffic, but I waited til traffic cleared about a 1/4 mile up the road and moved to my far right lane, and passed a few cars, and he was quick to follow..after I passed the cars, I hit the far left lane again, and downshifted to second about 40...and waited for him..he pulled aside me...and I began slowing down to let cars get further ahead..eventually I ended up in first..and, he got in first also..He wouldn't slow down even besides me, which pissed me off, cause I was pullin like 5 grand...and, I had to speed up some..well, I kinda hit it hoping he'd jump but he delayed...soon as I shifted to second, he hammered it..I chirped the tires a little (second gear at like 30 mph=no rpm=acceleration of a ford focus going downhill.) Anyhow..I fell to the back of his car, and when he hit third, I was pulled back up evenly with him, and actually probably put my nose about 2 ft. ahead of his. Not so much of a kill, but when you consider I had to come from behind, after he jumped...oh yeah..and, I'm bone stock..with just a muffler..and, I believe he was stock too..not sure, sure was quiet.


The whine of the blower scared me at first, but I figured what the hell, and tried my luck anyways, and did pretty good. :D

Still-a badass car...and a damn good race :)

Okay-why does there have to be smart-ass comments like that? Shit happens, sometimes faster cars lose to slower cars...and, you don't know what my car has run at a track, before you startmaking stupid comments.

Actually-no. I'm not typical LS1 Driver, as I have owned mustangs, and still love them dearly. After I posted I re-read what I said..out of frustration, and then I went back and edited it..trying to avoid a flame war.



I am sure that had we actually got a chance to get into the higher gears, he would have walked away from me hard..as I don't trap that high (106)..so he would have walked all over me. But, from the 30-70 that we got to...it was very close.

I've run LS1's, and I've run '03 Cobras... if the '03 was stock and had a bad driver and the LS1 had a couple mods and a good driver, I could see it happening...

Atleast, someone finally sees that not all 03's are fast, and that there are some VERY fast ls1's out there...but alot of it falls mainly on the driver himself.

I've pulled on mildly modded 6sp LS1's on the big end... I've also had well driven stock LS1's right next to me...

I had a modded '03 cobra edge me out...

Yep, the only time I "lost" to a 03 Cobra was to sucker him into the next race. And I still have a stock muffler.

I've pulled on a few h/c/i Ls1's with "400 N/A rwhp"
A couple 03 Cobras. One with the bolt-ons.

The dark red 03 that races at Denton gave me a good run on the hwy once. It was neck and neck through three gears. I dont now for sure what his mods are.
