View Full Version : New best at Kennedale

Finally got the car back out to a track tonight with the new motor. I've got the exact same setup as before, just lighter and with a built motor. 46fever loaned me some big nasty slicks (28x10) and I remembered what traction was like.

First pass on motor proved to have too much tire and a 6K launch bogged down to 2K on the launch even with 17psi in the tires and I managed an 8.3@85 with a 1.9 60'. Plenty of room for improvement there but who cares about motor runs when there's a power adder on deck......

2nd pass: on bottle

Now here's where the big tires come in handy. Spun just a little on the launch but still managed a 1.60 60' and pulled decently the rest of the way through for a new best of:

7.31@96.71:D

Of course my clutch locks up at the end of the run and won't disengage. I thought for certain that my tranny was toast but all the gears are fine when not running and I was able to limp it back to Denton in 4th gear the entire way back. I just couldn't stop the car.

I hope somebody saw me doing donuts in the parking lots exiting Kennedale since I had to keep the car rolling. Now that was fun. Thanks Manny, Jeremy, Stangtamer, and Relinquished for helping me make it home.

Oh well, at least it's just the clutch. I'll be upping the ante here very soon now that I've got a motor that can take some real abuse.;)

Congrats again on the new best!! I see some 6's in the near future for you once you get a few more bolt ons to let that beast breath. It sucks that your clutch took a shit, but atleast you were able to drive it home. When I heard you pull up with all of the rattling and clanging I thought it was that fresh motor. I was feeling real bad for you. It was a relief to find out it was a tranny/clutch problem. Even though that sucks too, it's a whole lot cheaper.lol

congrats on the new bests mike! :) sucks about the clutch. i bet you've got some very low 7s/high 6s in that thing no problem. how did it do on the dyno?

Congrats on the new best , Cant wait to see what it will do when you get your 60ft back. And even more congrats on limping that thing home , F****n Ram - 900 ,you must have made some mean torque on that pass

yep, black 02 GT on ProStars. (http://www.flowjack.com/stang/ps1.jpg) .

Marcus, I put it on a dyno a couple of days ago just to see if the A/F was safe enough for me to start making some passes again.

It put down 294rwhp on motor and 420rwhp on bottle untuned (SAE). I'm having HPP take it down to Houston soon for a tune.

Thanks! I still have them. They aren't going to hook for me so I've become a Mickey Thompson fan again, especially after trying the 28x10's out.

Those are some fast times from stangtamer and flowjack! When were you guys out there? I must have missed you guys, cause i didn't really see anyone that fast. I didn't get there til 6:15 or so though. I ran my 92 coupe for the first time tonight, but I couldn't get any kind of traction (guess i'll bolt on the slicks next time:) ) Still, it was a good time! My dad even ran his 64 t-bird once, haha! That black 03 cobra vert was pretty quick. Did anyone see that extended arm gsx-r? I think he ran a 6.4 or something. It was damn quick!

man, i don't really remember one, i must have just not seen it run. bummer, i would have liked to see it. I ran a primer grey camaro (70's) that was dialed in at 7.97 but that's all i can remember. i was kind of focused on my car though, and trying to make it less slow.
