why can't i play dvd's on my comp..
windows media says
"Windows Media Player cannot play this DVD because a problem occurred with digital copyright protection."

another player Media bar (a player that came with computer)
says
"Key exchange for dvd copy protection failed"
these are real dvds not burns

this is just a basic question.. but doyou have a dvd player installed on the puter.. what i mean is do you have the drive and is the correct driver installed?

yes i have a dvd player.. just a single drive.. its a my computer is sony mx320.. media computer..
its a dvd burner also..

Do all DVD's do this, or just a particular one? Also, you may try another media player ... remove that crap that came with the computer, it may be what's causing all this. Download a trial version of PowerDVD, or WinDVD and see what it does.

Also, check to see if you have Interactual Player, or PC Friendly installed on the computer. If you do, get rid of those as well, and pray you don't have to manually remove them from the registry ... it'd be easier to format/reinstall than to get all their hooks out of the registry.

i downloaded windvd.. that works fine.. but the other windows media wont play it

What version of media player? You might try upgrading to 9, and any updates that might be available for it. If you're still running 7, or 8 that came with XP, that's probably why WMP's not working right.

Windows Media Player doesn't have a DVD decoder built into it, so unless you have another software decoder installed, it ain't gonna work.
