First 6 mths of my unemployment I was laid back enjoyed the unemployment benefits...but in last 5 months after the benefits expired I was getting pretty frustrated from no one calling.

So I change things around a little:

1. Tailored a resume for each type of position applied.
2. Each submitted resume must accompanied by a tailored cover letter. MUST!
3. Don't put all certs or experience unless the position called for. Most hire managers nowaday will shy away from over qualified candidates.

I think those 3 tips above help me landed a total of 7 calls and 4 actual interviews in the last 2 wks. Three were with recruiters, one was internal (job offered).

Good luck!

I found it is very important for candidate to following up with the interviewer with a thank you letter. I do this both for recruiter and hire manager.

Of course the letter will contains more than just a thank you, it should reiterate your knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA) and why the job is for you.

Good luck!
