BLOCKBUSTER (NYSE BBI) is looking for a Support Services Technician to work in our Corporate Office located in the Dallas, TX metroplex.
The Support Services Technician primarily provides technical support assistance to any IT function. Receives predetermined work assignments with specific instructions. Requires basic level knowledge and job skills to resolve routine problems.
Provides services to enhance the use of IT products. Responsible for technology customer and desk side support, acquisition, implementation, deployment, contract management, technical writing and distributed systems acceptance testing. Develops, negotiates and measures performance against service level agreements with IT and business customers. Responsible for help desk, asset, problem and service level management. Increases operating efficiency and effectiveness and reduces total cost of ownership.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responds to, diagnoses, escalates, and follows up on problems through discussions with customers.
Executes assignments based on specific instructions.
Executes predefined test scripts and reports results.
Takes requests, assembles and ships or installs solution for customer.
Verifies proof of delivery against service level and reports exceptions.
Updates existing documentation based on instructions for products and services.
Adheres to all IT guiding principles, processes, policies, standards and procedures.
Demonstrates integrity without compromise, respect, commitment to excellence, collaboration, agility, and values diversity--every day with every team member.
Qualifications
Technical Knowledge/Skills:
0-1 years experience with one or more hardware platforms such as Sun, IBM, Compaq, Intel, AS400, S/390, POS Hardware and various storage tools and technologies such as EMC, IBM and Compaq and enterprise backup technologies.
1-2 years experience with one or more operating systems such as: UNIX, NT Windows, OS400, OS390, VMS, Linux.
1-2 years experience with one or more of the following system applications such as: Tivoli, (Crystal Reporting) Lotus Notes
General Areas of Knowledge:
Requires basic level knowledge and job skills. Requires basic analytical and problem solving skills. College coursework may be substituted for experience.
Education/Experience:
Minimum education and experience required is high school with 2-3 years of related experience. Advanced level knowledge of three or more skills learned by on the job training or tenure required to support three or more functions.
