Well after a few weeks of wondering how bad my damaged pistons or rings might have been, I got up the energy to take it out to Redline tonight. It was HOT AS SHIT, and my car still ran a best MPH for Nittos... and backed up close to it a few times, so I don't think the motor is down any power, regardless of what the compression checker says. It ran 3 8.4s @ 99-100 last time out at Denton in the mid 80s... This was at least mid 80s tonight, I was sweating like a bitch in the car waiting for people to stage.

First pass was my best E/T, I short shifted 1st, 2nd, and 3rd into fourth about 100 feet before the traps, which I have never had to do before. (Used to be able to run out third)

2.19 60 foot
5.57 330 foot
8.01 @ 99.03

I was happy as hell to see that my mph hasn't changed any, and it is even hotter than the last time out, so I think its still making happy power.:D

Next time I ran third to the revlimiter, and it tapped it once right as I went through the traps (7,200)

2.33 60 foot
5.83 330 foot
8.33 @ 100.49 :D My best MPH before on Nittos was 100.03.

The last two runs had me shortshifting at 5K into second, and spinning like a bitch about 30 feer out of going into second. On and off the throttle and shortshifting into fourth ran a 8.2 @ 98.5 and a 8.3 @ 99.5 coasting through the traps with the clutch in. (no shift to fourth the last pass) I think it coulda backed up the 100 mph trap, but I got walked like a bitch by my friends Z06, so I just gave up.

All-in-all I was just happy it doesn't seem too broken. I am going to order some 28" 275-15 BFGs and some 15x10 inch wheels in the next week or so. These Nittos are just plain gay.:(

Tonight wasn't too bad. Thank god it cooled down a lil bit more. I was shocked at your mph tonight Matt. Keep up the good work. Practice makes perfect.

My best tonight was 8.8 @ 80.5 w/2.12 60'. Nothing great but ran a bunch of 8.8's all night long. Can't wait to spray it or put stickies on :D should be a decent running stock heads and cam 5.0

That's awesome. ET's will be even nicer once you get some traction :) Was there many out there last night?

Yea, thanks guys, all in all it was some decent runs. I had some really good launches, but shifting to second with my bad ass tranny caused the weight to transfer off the tires and it to spin like a hoe in second. The only time it hooked in second was on the first pass, and it bogged then because I didn't give it enough gas. I think the track's traction got worse throughout the night due to everyone dragging water up to the starting line.:(

Is redline not that sticky or what?

I went out to Denton on thursday night and was cutting 2.0 60's on my 17" Nitto 555's <- not the "R"s ;) ;) Best ET was only an 8.2@87.5 though.. I picked up 2mph w/ my slicks :D

Why are you afraid to put slicks on that car? It's fun to a certain point to see what you can do on street tires, but that gets old after a while.

If you beat off to mph, again, put some slicks on, I guarantee you'll pick up at least 3 mph and actually run an ET to be proud of.

it'll also be a lot safer/easier to get down the track...

He has had slicks on it before and didn't know how to use them so still spun like crazy..;)

I'm not affraid, I don't have any slicks right now. I want to buy some BFGs so I can leave them on and drive around town on them. My car is a STREET car, and I don't track whore it, so it goes to the track with full tunes, all the seats and street tires (3,620-3,650 race weight). I used to have E/T Streets, but I sold them, because I didn't like the way they felt on the street, and I almost died in a rain storm twice. I would rather have something I can not worry about driving 40-70 miles home on a wet road. When I get a trailer and truck, it will get full slicks, but then again, this motor will be in a 2800 lb Coupe with a full cage and a glide, so it won't matter much then anyways.;)
