WinXP Format and reinstall help

Will I need to reenter my product key, because I dont have it anymore. If I do, how do I get the product key from the current install.

Good question. You didn't write the S/N down??? Usually I'll insert a S/N Test File onto the CD's so I don't forget. Let us know what happens.

This is a customers computer, they dont have the key.

Don't have XP at work so I couldn't try it. But I did a search and found this.

yes you nub you gotta re enter the key. They have crack/programs out there that view your product key.

So all that program does is view the current installation key?

yes thats all it does. they have others to change your "vaild" cdkey to another "valid" cdkey.

dont know if you need this but its usually in the registry under this key

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion
