What part of your back?

Personally, I think the bent over barbell row is the singlest best back exercise.

Doesn't matter. I'm game.

I love bent over rows... I also like lat pull downs with my hands slightly wider than my shoulders. seems to hit my lats better than a wide grip.

The wider you go on lat pull downs the better.. i grip at the very end of the bar.. i find at least for me, this is where i get the best back development from pull downs..

i guess different strokes for different folks

I can understand that. The lats are pretty big muscles, originating from the mid/lower back and an insertion on the front head of the humerus (upper arm) bone.

It does two things, to adduct the arms (pulling the arms in) and extension (pull arms down from over head to horizontal).

A narrow grip will work the extension portion of the lats, a wide grip will work the adduction.

Just make sure, that when using either grip (or combination, one set wide, one set medium, one set close) you concentrate on contracting your lats, so you don't use as much bicep in the action.

I do four exrecises...pulldowns, rows, an angled row that hits the lower lats, right under the shoulder (hammer machine) and a reverse fly type of thing that does the back of your shoulder.

Just like 01 said, concentrate on using the back though, its easy to use the biceps too much.

You must really suck then because that doesn't rhyme and bent over rows is a pulling exercise.:p

I love that feeling when you pick up the loaded bar for bent rows and lean back right before bending them knees to unleash the power struggle! Bam, Bam, Bam, Bam, BAM, BAM, BAM, BAM, and im tossing the bar onto the itty bitty holders :)
