Coming home from Sonic I saw John (the guy in the Porche) come flying up behind me, My initial thought was what a dork.......I mean is he serious.....I took him to lightly the first time, left in third gear and he pulled away from me slightly till my RPM's built. So I hoped he would give me on more shot and he did......I pulled fairly clean, but I must say I was impressed and taken by complete suprise. We talked a few and he said he goes to sali's on wednesday nights so you stangs beware, Im sure he will walk most of you guys........lol !!:D

I didnt get owned either race.....;)

Yes I was at Denton, till 3:00 AM. I dont have Nitrous anymore so I didnt challenge anyone, just played around with a freind of mine doing some testing on the car he just bought.

My best all night was an 8.33 @ 89.16.

The Porche was an older one that looked like a 944, I think it was a 968, but I dont know for sure......he said he was on the stock turbo but would be much faster in a couple weeks.

They never made a 968 Turbo, so it was probably the 944 Turbo that has been out and about racing. I hear it is pretty quick. Good kill though!;)

I was supposed to buy it, it was a freinds kit. We never really discussed a price and I guess time just passed.....he told me he either wanted the kit back or wanted 350 for it, I didnt think it was worth $350 so I gave it back. I am in the process of finding all new stuff, might take a little bit but the car is and will remain wired for the kit. I just need three solenoids and a bottle heater.

Thats cool. I just wondered what the deal was. One week you had N2o #'s in your sig and then they "magically" disappeared. Oh well. I'm sure you'll be able to find what you need pretty quickly.

it's a Porsche 951 (aka 944 Turbo), just had it in for some upgrades and it goes back in September to finish the list. He's real quick on the highway.

ok rich and i just got it all resolved lol.. what he meant to say was that when both of us didnt have a cam and we went off a 20, it would be a tight race till about 100 when he starts pulling on me. After i got the cam and ran Rich, (he didnt know I had the cam so I told him I got it "tuned") I was a nice distance ahead of him and Rich was like  .. Greg was like  ..Here's rich' .. quote for quote " dam that tuning made a huge differnce on your car!" hahaha.. of course a week later he and everyone else found out I got a Z06 cam hahaaaa. Oh well.. its all in fun. :D

hey man i didnt know you were going to post our race on the board...lol. It was a real pleasure running with you.Your car is crazy fast! I would shudder to think how you run with your bottle.By the way fyi its a 951.Its pretty much stock ...i just have some minor bolt on stuff.I will be taking the car back in late september(probably) and buy the kokeln stage 5 turbo i want and maybe get some head work.I was surprised at your car too man...i mean normally i beak ls1's.And you pulled on me no problem. In fact i raced a black firehawk tonight.I got it on video so i can bring it with me at the wed. meet(i won by about a car).I work until 9 and proly wont even get out there until 10 or so but wait around for me i will show up.Yeah that guy with the stroker motor got me by about a car(his car runs very well) But i just started break boosting....so now from a punch i can get full boost from the start of the race instead of having to wait for it too spool like before....maybe we can re run(stroker).....at least this way i can get it on tape.anyways this is my first time on this board and i just want to say yall's cars are pretty crazy.i enjoy going out to the wed night meets......some of the cars out there are really fast.

p.s. that race was alot of fun man......maybe we can do it again when i get my new turbo...;) .....happy boosting!

You guys crack me up. STROKD claims to know that Porsche never produced a 968. porshh951 says his car is a 951. Wrong, and right, respectively, but misleading to those who don't know much about Porsches. (By the way, do you say "Porsh" or "Por-sche"? Just curious.)

Anyway, Porsche produced the 968 as a follow-on to the 944 from '92 to '95. Here in the states they sold the 968 and the 968 Turbo S. You could get a coupe or a cabriolet. You can tell them apart from the lettering on the back (if it hadn't been deleted, as is often the case.). They either had "968" or "Turbo S" script on the rear. The numbers "951" are the factory internal code numbers for the series, much like 996 for the current series 911 models, and 993 for the last air-cooled 911 series. So, unless your talking to Porschephiles, 951 is a somewhat meaningless number to the general public.

As far as the cars themselves, the 968/Turbo S are excellent automobiles. With a weight of about 3450lbs, the 3.0 liter four-cylider engine had 240/305 horsepower stock. Thet could run 0 - 60 in 6.1/4.9 seconds and top out at 156/175 mph. (U.S. specs, of course.)

In Europe, you could get a "CS" or Club Sport version, stipped down for racing duty. The factory even produced four "race only" cars called the Turbo RS. These cars produced 337 horsepower (with a restrictor) and could easily be tuned to put out more than 450 hp. Very fast stuff.

I don't mean to ruffle any feathers or anything, I just wanted the facts to be clear. I lived in Germany for 4 years (Back when it was West Germany), and owned and drove several Porsches, including one particularly fast 944S (German specs). The home boys over there are very proud of thier machines and Porsche is still one of my favorite brands, followed closely by M-B and BMW. They are very quick to point out that "Porsche" is a two syllable word that is actually the name of the man that created the first "Peoples' Car" or Volkswagen under the orders of one Adolph Hitler. (The autobahn was also one of Hitler's ideas.) Wierd, huh?

Habe einen guten tag, mein freunden!!!

I didn't say they didn't make a 968, I said they never made a Turbo, and I have NEVER seen or heard of one. I know a shit load about Porsches, and have seen Hans hand build a 928GTS motor before they stopped making the damn things in late 95. I am sorry if I was mistaken, but I have still never heard or seen one. I know about the ClubSport, because that is what I wanted a few years ago, but they always stop making the cool cars, and build fucken ghetto ass Boxsters and SUVs:rolleyes:

Porsche never sold the 968 Turbo S in the United States. Don't believe me, call Porsche NA. 28 were built, all were RoW models. All were special order cars not sold through regular channels. They were more expensive than the 911 Turbo of the same year. 4 968 Turbo RS's were built.

There are a ton of replica's running around and there are only a few authentic 968 Turbo S's left in street car trim (most have been converted to racecars). I don't know of any authentic cars in the US other than Bruce Corwin's and Lloyd Hawkins' Turbo RS's. Both factory racecars, Bruces ran in the ADAC GT series in Germany and Lloyd's was the only 968 to run at the 24 hrs of Lemans. Both were also for sale last I heard. Lloyd was asking $100k for his car, Bruce wants $65k for his.

So why are we talking about Porsches on a Mustang site again??

You, sir, are correct! There are VERY few authentic 968S's in the U.S. All that are have been converted (the so called "grey market" cars). Very expensive, yet very exclusive. However, last time I checked with Porsche Cars U.S.A., 14 is the total production figure for the 968 Turbo S, 6465 for the 968 coupe (2417 for the U.S.), 4374 for cabriolets (2248 for the U.S.), and 1923 for the 968CS (none for the U.S.).

Interestingly, the U.S. was the only market for the '95 968 coupe, all but one of the '95 cabriolets were sold here, and the 968 Turbo S was only built in '93 and '94. Go figure.

:D

It was the fastest production Porsche built for a long fucken time till the Carrera GT which isn't out yet. Top Speed on the Sport model was in the 202-205 range depending on source, not the same as the 968 which was an improved upon 944.;)

Why doesn't the little Porsche run a 02 Blue Jetta.....Factory Turbo vs. Factory Turbo......LOL...;) The Jetta only runs 8's in the 1/8th! I think you will be surprised as alot of other LS1, LT1, LT4, and Stangs have........Later

John and I had a little run-in the other day... aparently I wanted to be in his lane and he wanted to be in mine, so we both accelerated rapidly in order to get ahead of the other... I was in 2nd, and we accelerated till I was in 4th before we both realized that this wasn't working and slowed down. ;)

anyhow, that car moves pretty good!! I think he brake boosted me... anyhow, it was DAMN close... I was slightly pulling on him in every gear, BUT when I say slightly, I mean SLIGHTLY!!! I didn't even have half a car on him in 4th... it was muggy outside and he had a passenger that looked like an easy 225+lbs. if it'd been a little cooler out or if his buddy wasn't in the car, it would have been a different story! and if he was on race gas and higher boost? :( (although I could use some race "gas" of my own! :p )

I'm sure he'd up and walk away from me on the highway... (and outhandle me! :( ) really pretty car... (I love white cars) tasteful exhaust (both the sound and the look/size of the muffler/tip) etc. etc. etc. 'course, I've got less than $4k in my car, but they're two totally different animals... good run though! :D

Damn, you had to go waaaaaaayyyy back to get this one....lol.

It is a fast car, suprised me.....I took him lightly the first race and it was close, the second I had no mercy and walked him pretty good. But it was alot closer than I thought it would be still.
His car is very clean !!

I thought you had 330rwhp? I only have 311 and I put over a car on him on the hwy from a 40 and over 3 cars from a 15. He was at 20lbs of boost when we raced. You must have been spinning.....
It is a little sleeper though!

that 330rwhp was w/ no fan and a short belt with cool air blowing over an open hood w/ the engine temp at 150*... power w/ all accessories, no cool air and 180* water temps was more like 285!?! :(

I've got an electric fan on the way, and I'm going to fab up a cold air setup instead of just the carb sitting there sucking from a hot engine bay.

I also don't have a tach in the car... I'm sure I was short shifting it  not making excuses, just saying is all... I never claimed to be the fastest, just the cheapest! :p

also, if you've got 311rwhp in an EFI car, you're probably making a lot more torque than I am with a broader torque curve... my car really wants 4.10's... and with the 3.73's, each gear winds out for so long, I get chicken shit and shift it at ~6300 probably (dyno sheet says it wants to go to ~6500 or so)

again, not excuses... if someone's faster than me, they're faster, that's all there is to it. I'm just in this hobby to have some fun. :D

hey forrest i got an email saying someone had posted on this subject again...lol..i thought it was a missprint but i guess not.Yeah i did break boost you.I was in third at 40mph when we hit it...your car runs very very well.I was at 16 lbs when we raced.Which is also kinda throwing me off a little considering greg had be by a car-car and 1/2 on the freeway(we ran from low punches too...but all i do is spin with the boot turned up like that) and he mad less power than you and i raced him with it tunred up too.lol...it was pretty crazy.....greg's cars have always been very quick...i mean he is only making 311 at the wheels...but yet he is mid 7 in the 8th:eek: ...lol...so somethings up.I had to give him mad props.I think it just go's to show that i really really need to get rid of my stock turbo(i am at the max power of this one...even when i turn up the boost it doesnt help that much...cause it cant flow any more cfm).Oh well whenever i get the money i will.Anyways forest i had fun running into like that...its a small world.take care of yourself man.:D

hell yeah, good run!!

I'm assuming that since that's a porsche that it's got a KKK on it? do you know if it uses a T3 or a T4 turbine flange? a Garrett upgrade would be MUCH cheaper. I'm surprised you've got the stock turbo on there! (because the car moves so good!)

call Dave or Mike at Majestic Turbo and see if they've got anything that'll fix you up! :D

Just thought I'd throw another log onto the fire; Bill Gates (and others) had tried to bring in a few 959s back in '88. The Fed impounded them and they were eventually returned to the motherland (Germany). Now I've just heard that there is a company that has gotten a law passed to allow these cars into the U.S. They are modifying the intake and exhaust (stock internals), and deleted the sequential turbos in favor of two single units. The cars are now meeting '88 EPA emissions +10%, with horsepower in the 575 range, with torque around 515. These are rear wheel numbers. Top speed is around 215. Zero to sixty is about 3.2.

I wonder how long it will be before anyone actually sees one of these cars on the street. There were only about 230 ever made, I think.

actually bill gates....has two.He kept them in storage all these years.....and now has them certified. The law was actually passed about three years ago..but you know how slow things move ....espically when you are talking about grey market cars....getting legalized. Its called the "show and go"(policy,act...whatever you get the point) You can register any grey market car..for the U.S. as long as you meet certain qualifications...miles per year driven.....net worth,use's..ect.ect. as long as its not a daily driver...and is only being shown as a show car...then its alowed here.if they aprove it.

fyi...yes it is a kkk unit.Lindsey racing is the one that does all my work so...i think i will go with there koklen stage 5 ...with the "ss" package and ball bearing center section.....going to be pricey.....anyone want to kick in a few pennis wont hurt my feelings any.:D

Forrest Wish I would have had a COLD ass breeze come down when I was on the dyno:mad: I'm changing some of my setup but with my overkill shit I was actually suprised at my hp #. When I get all that crap changed let's go to redline.
