well... alot of people will tell you to run first thing because your stomach is empty, you'll burn more fat, etc. I don't know if I believe that or not. I usually have a banana and a bagel before I run washed down with a Red Bull.
I like morning running. 6am or so now, but then I worked in an office, it was 4:30-5:00am. I like morning runs because...
1. I get beat down running in the heat. Esp. when the sun is beating down on me. I sweat running in 50 degree weather.
2. Less polution.
3. No excuse not to run (hard day at work, etc.)
4. After you build up some miles (3+), you will start to experience the "runners high" where your endorphins take over. Sets me up for the whole day.
5. When I'm running, I solve alot of my upcoming days problems in that hour or so when I'm running. All that is left is the execution of the day.
The downside to morning running is percentage wise, more people get injured running in the morning than any other time of the day. Which, thinking about it, makes sense. Also, from personal experience helping people increase mileage, they just aren't morning people (I am). Running in the morning would leave them flat all day.
But, as far as I'm concerned, as long as you are doing it, there isn't a bad time to run!
Morning for me, before any meals. If I go running later in the day, I feel sick. Sometimes I will have a drink of something.
Maybe I should try an energy drink. Having nothing beforehand could be why I can only do 3 miles in 40 minutes.

If at all possible you should run around 4-6pm, maybe later because of the heat. If you are truely a morning person then you could run during the morning, but your muscle are not as warm as they are when you are wide awake and at peak ability in the afternoon and late evening.

well then cobrastang...you should definitely keep it up if you are a morning person, your muscle warmth isn't perfect but you're better off than other people.
Yeah Robby, I saw your truck, but I was on the final stretch and was concentrating on that last 3 miles.

Mornings are better, for sure. Especially if you run outside.
Besides the obvious reasons, another one is that people are less likely to fuck with you if you are running in the morning (I think people are asleep at the wheel still...LOL). Running in the evening or the afternoon, it just seems like people are very obnoxious and tend to honk, hollar or whatever.

Not in the morning?
Seriously, over the years I've been running, I've run at all times of day (including a period that was 2 times a day am/pm).
As long as you don't run too close to bed time, you should be ok running at anytime.
If the temp is over 80, be careful and care a water bottle with you. You will be a little slower in higher temperatures because your body can't throw the heat off as fast. Run in shade as much as possibe.

Girls honk and yell at me, but it usually is more along the lines of, "Get back in your cage, FREAK!"

I usually bike down 1709 here in keller, all the way down to Grapevine near the lake. I ride with my shirt off and don't get any response even durning rush hour. The funny thing is that I can walk into any decently large store from keller to Grapevine and I'll get people saying, "Hey! I saw you biking the other day." Easy way to get into conversations and meet people (girls):D

Running is running, its not gonna be that much of a difference when you do it. Stay away from bed time though, gets your energy level up too much for sleeping. Running regardless is the key not when you do it!

i like going in the morning better, but I am a lazy ass.......not a morning person at all, i have to force myself to get up. i went today and i always feel better when i go in the morning. i just have more energy and like someone else said, then i can't make an excuse that i am too tired after working all day, which i tend to want to do a lot. If i go early, i get it over with, since i hate running. but i feel great when i am done. I am running inside, so i don't have to worry about heat as much, although sometimes they don't turn on the air!
