Hey guys I have a 93 gt vert with FMS underdrive pulleys on the crank and on the water pump. Stock pulley is on the orginal alternator. I have (well had a brand new battery), a 300 watt Jensen amp and 10" sub.
Is my stock pulley the problem?? Would it help the alternator charge with the fms pulley on it since the fms pulleys are on the car. I know the stock alternator is a weak 75amp. Where can I buy a good inexpensive 130 amp alternator?? If I don't need a better alternator that would be great.
Thanks
Marc
What is the problem?
Have you had the battery charged and then load tested?
Have you checked the voltage at idle and about 2K?
Have you load tested the alternator?
Have you checked for current drain?
Do you have good connections for ALL grounds and power?
Does the car sit for long periods of time?
Does the car get plenty of high rpm use?
Is your battery a wal-mart special?

The battery was brand new, from walmart. The car great, but when everything is on. amp, headlights, etc the car the headlights fad real low. After a couple days normal driving the car would die. Have to pop clutch or get a jump to start. I haven't tested the alternator, but I know the battery isn't the problem b/c it was brand new.
I'm gonna have to do that soon. The car isn't being driven this summer :( but I'm gonna have to fix it regardless.
A multi meter is around $30. It can tell you what is going on with your alternator. If you can get it to auto zone, they may be able to determine what is wrong. It sounds like it is not charging. The battery will be a problem because it has been run dead. It will not recover to full strength. Charge the battery on a charger. Don't jump start it.

I bet I have a drain. But from all I've read I can't see how 75 amp stock alternator will charge my car with underdrive pullies and a 300 watt amp running.

How much did it cost? Did you have to run another wire for it?

Who cares what kind amp I have. It's plenty powerful for one 10" sub. And its was unexpensive. But I took my alternator out. It was tested at O'riley's Auto Parts. Its not putting out enough power and needs to be replaced. Any suggestions. Is a stock replacement enough, running an amp and underdrive pulleys'??
