EW (and friends),
who makes good subs these days...back when I was into audio a few years ago, the big guys were JL audio, Kicker, and Cerwin Vega.....who makes the good stuff now (looking especially at 12'' subs). I'm looking to run about 500 watts RMS to it. Thanks,

JL is the only game around IMO.

rockford fosgate are good, but only the perfomance.
HX2-1000W-RMS{500}
POWER-HX2-2000W-RMS{1000W}
I really like the JL Audio 12W6v2-D4.

those are good if you have a shit load of money, but for about 500 watts rms hell some 12W0s will work fine and are way cheaper but yeah jl and kicker are still the big dogs, cant go wrong with either brand.

Exactly.
At least go up to a pair of 12W3v2 for 500 watts.

i wouldnt buy the w0's. they cant handle anything.
As for good 12's, kicker makes some damn good square subs. I heard a guy who had one 12 inch solo baric, the good one, l7 series in his car, that shit hit hard, and he didnt even turn it up that high.
The JL W6 kicks ass as well.
Infinity makes a decent sub. Audiobahn's high end subs are good, just dont buy the cheapo crap ones.
I dont recommend fosgate though, well i can sayt he two top models are good, but anything below is pretty crappy.

i disagree, the HE2 subs are great for what you pay for them. they dont require a big ported box to sound good, and hit hard.
i have two of them, and am VERY pleased with them.

im sure they hit decent, but im not a fan of any ported boxes at all, i dont like the quality of the bass from ported boxs. I prefer a small sealed box with lots of power going to the subs.
I have a 8" hx2, or whatever the best 8 fosgate makes and it sounds decent for an eight, but i would prefer two good tens. see too me fosgate sounds ok, but they have yet to impress me.

you could hear my system if youd like, for what it is (two cheap 12s in a prefab) it hits very hard, i think.

I sell the W0's with as much as 200% of their rated RMS power without issues. The only people that blow them up will blow up anything, IMO.
The W6 is a 10 year old product. There are much better woofers on the market today.

What do you guys think of Kicker amps and subs?? I go to oklahoma state where Kicker products are made. My fraternity had the Kicker truck out for our annual 3 on 3 basketball tournament. That truck was so loud. Really cool.

there are new W6 subs, they definatly arent ten years old, they are kinda like a little brother to the new W7 subs.

Being a JL dealer, I think EW is aware of that.
