Because they don't lay all their cards down on the table at one time. 5.0 N/A DOHC would meet if not beat the LS1. (There is a good possiblity it could find its way into the '05)

Same could be turned on you. Why did GM go from a 305 TPI to the 5.7L LT1 and then to the 5.7L LS1? Were the 5.0's beating up on them that bad?

you time trail for awhile, i know there will be sandbaggin, and then the best times for all of the cars are figgure and the you make the bracket from there. the latter starts with the fastest cars and goes to the slowest, the races are from the slowest to the fastest. each team gets points for who wins.

they've had 5.7s for a long time, the 305TPI was a complete waste of metal, the 350tpi(L98) wasn't much better but it was a 5.7 all the same..

I put together a DFWStangs vs. LS1.com grudge match back in '99 or '00. Had everything lined up, set the date out a month in advance, and had about 20 grudge matches set. Got to the track and less than half actually showed up. :rolleyes:

See if you get a response on LS1.com. There are hundreds of Mustangs on this site, post on the Back Porch and see how many are willing to join the event.

the reason why ford slapped a charger on the ohv engines is cause they wanted to think more of keeping the car in one pieace while putting down alot of horse instead of letting the damn chassis fall apart and think of make a n/a motor put down 305 hp stock.

You'd probably get more of the GM guys to show up if you divided it up into non power adder and power adder classes. The top 11 on the fastest 1/8th mile list are all Fords. I can already hear all of the crying.

How about having time trials and the top eight fords run against the top eight GM's in a draw type eliminations. Where you would draw from one hat the fords and another hat the GMs to pair them up. After the first round all cars would go in a single hat and we draw pairings until the final pairing.

I think that we should have a DFWstangs "Mustangs vs everything else" on this board(meaning every make of car other than a Mustang that posts on here I.E Capri, Fairmonts, Camaro, Firebird, Ect.). There are plenty of GMs and other types of Fords on this board. It would probably even out on speed as well. If we had a DFWstangs vs LS1.com I wouldn't want to be on the LS1.com side, but I would kind of feel weird about which side I was suppose to be on since I own a GM. DFWstangs.net is my home.:)

i understand about most Fbody guys not wanting to run 1/8, but the only way to get any kind race at a 1/4 mile track is to book the track before the season begins. i would be down for redline or kennadale. maybe kechme can pull some strings at redline. but of course, not matter which track or date is picked, somebody will have a beef with it. i am not wild about hallsville for some reason, and ennis would near impossible to get, i gues that would leave temple or noble.


James the reason i like the way they do it in the Buick vs Ford thing, is cause everyone gets to races. a quick 8 would mean most people will not even show cause they think they will nor make it into the latter.

James likes head-up racing LOL..... but, for such a race - everyone not in the 6's in the 1/8th ain't gonna show up. What's the point of paying the entry fee for a slower car just to get knocked out 1st round?

So.... if you want a decent turnout you've gotta do it in a way where everyone has a chance of winning, even if they have a 7/8/9 second car - or you host the "race of the champions" and hope to get 5 or 6 cars to show up.

It's either heads up/low turnout or some kind of bracket race where everyone has an even chance.

Are we doing the race to determine the fastest cars (hell just go look on the fastest list) or are we doing the race for fun and to allow maximum participation?

I like the idea of a little brand rivalry. Should be fun.
