Been Beat By An Import??

I always wanted to ask, and lets be truthful now, alot of work and money goes into SOME little 4 cylinder imports to get them into the 13's and that is failry fast in the import world, but being as truthful as you can what import did you once race and suprisingly the import won?? Any import with factory twin turbos doesnt count. When i had my stang i raced a yellow turbo integra with a black hood, and he hung alot better than any import I ever ran, and i gave that integra ALOT of respect!! And yes i am aware that the civics with 10 foot wings run 16's!! :p

Best import race I've had was when my gt was bone stock and I had run in with a modded vw gti. Just couldn't pull away.

I raced Glen in his red talon WAY back in the day....my Z was running 12.6 @ 113 mph...we raced on the freeway, and he stay neck and neck with me!! I was supprised as hell......that was before I got to know him and his car. I hear he has busted alot of domestics!

Was it white? Big ass mexican dude? Was your Cobra Black? I remeber riding with Wes and racing an AMS Cobra leaving Pep Boys. That car was a blast. It had a stock appearing 2.5" exhaust and a small front mount. Total sleeper. Ran a 12.1 @ 117 on race gas and 25 psi braking the last 100 feet. It was a wicked street car.

I raced a white eclipse years ago with a big ass mex. dude & it had super turbo sticker on the side it supposedly ran 12's, we raced at california crossing's, I was in my red autosports gt, I still beat him by 3 cars or so but back then that was suprising for an import!:cool:

I got beat at Ennis 4/26/01 by a green turbo Integra. My car was stock including the F1's. I had ran three 13.4's on 2.0 sixty fts. When I raced him I spun pretty bad. I ran a 13.8 with 2.95 sixty ft. He left me from the starting line. I realed him back in some but didnt have enough to get by him. I only have my half of the time slip. I think he ran a 13.6 or a 13.7

oh, the white eclipse is stout. i have seen the car at Alamo, after poking at him some with my SVT contour. he basically got beside me and downshifted and hammered it... the turbo was so goddamn loud it hurt my ears. i backed off, and considered my low 15 second family car inferior! :)

I got fucken owned back in the day when I had a stock 86 motor with E6s... All I had was intake, exhaust and gears, ran high 13s on street tires.

Anyways, I came across a kid driving his daddy's sick ass 964 Turbo, just like the one in "Bad Boys" but it was dark blue, I revved him from about a 40 roll, and he downshifted and left me a good 6-8 cars in a matter of about 10 seconds... it sucked.:( But since that is one of my favorite cars of all time, I gave him a thumbs up, and he revved me as he double clutched it and pitched it around the turn at the next light.;)

You guys think Honda fart cannons are loud, a 40mm Tial Wastegate thats coming right off the 02 housing on an Eclipse will make you shit your pants! I'll be buying one in the next few months. I cant wait to race someone and see the look on their face when my car hits full boost and that wastegate opens!:D

I used to race Feldman all the time in my Forumula. I always lost to his ass from a roll. The only other import I lost was Billy T's silver Golf GTI from a stop and a roll. I didnt feel bad about it though. That car ran 11.9's @ near 120 mph! When I raced him I only had a lid, cutout and drag radials.

when my car was basically stock except for 3.73s/shifter/k&n i lost by a car length to a first gen talon with boost controller and muffler.

i also lost to my friend's old car- 94 prelude that had a turbo on it. lost by about 2 cars.

the above races were about 4 years ago. have not lost to one since. :)

I had a heads and cam 306 and ran what i found out later was Kenny Trans supra(Jotech). I thought i was the shit in my 12.5 mustang until he put about ten cars on me from 60. The next week i saw him run like a 10.65 at Ennis:eek: I felt a little better!

I lost before the headswap to a Turbo Eclipse. Thats the last time I have got the chance to race one. he took me by about 3 car lengths and thats how it ended as well. that was from a stop. from a roll I didnt get the chance to race him.... I know I raced a rx-7 not too long ago and he had me the whole time my front bumper was on his tail the entire time till about 80 then I cut it off. oh well.

i actually love first gen talon/eclipses (flip up lights are pimp :cool: ) but it's not like beating my car when it was basically stock is any big acclompishment. :p

My car is very rough around the edges and will be reciving a new paint job by the end of summer. Please ignore the Charlie Brown cartoon. I didnt take this picture or photoshop it. It may not look it, but this turd will run high 8's in the eighth on pump gas! I have found alot of small issues that kept the car from going faster (bad MAS, bad knock sensor) and actually tuned the car with a datalogger. Once I fix my boost creep problem and install me new clutch, I am hoping for high 7's in the eighth on a small 16g and a stock sidemount.

I am planning on repainting the car the stock red color. The previous owner tried to spot paint the car and it looks terrible. Some of the door molding on the passenger side is missing so that need to be replaced. I have removed all of the interior pieces starting behind the front seats all the way back to the trunk. I am buying a "new" back seat this week thats in mint condition. I am also "resealing" the plastic interior pieces and re-painting them. Once those are back in, I am going to buy a par of Red Corbeau seats and new carpet for the front. I should have the car completely restored by next spring. Once thats done, then comes the 20g and Front mount:D Hellooooo 11's!

BTW, it is AWD. I never understood a front wheel drive street car. Why fight physics?

I will get him to go to one of the Fun-Grudge meets in August to hang out and run.

well my friend 93 civic hatch hung with me on motor form a 50 couldn't pull him. Now he is turboed and i had to spray him to get him by a car and a half. It also has alot to do with the weight his 2100 mine 3550. What a difference.

I forgot my brothers friend Alan has a turbo hatch that runs very well. On pump gas and street tires it went 90mph in the eighth without being able to use first or second gear but for a little bit. My guess is that car is going to run some 94-97mph on slicks on pump gas, and on race gas it should be pretty damn quick if he can get it out off the line.

I'm not from the Dallas Supra crew school of "roll-on race or die," infact, I had never really been a fan of racing from a roll. I'd rather just brake boost and take off from a stop. Although the SUpra, as everyone knows, does much better from a roll.

Last WRX I raced was a pretty good race, he stayed even with me off the launch but the Supra top end got 'em and I walked slowly away. He had some hose mod, an MBC and an exhaust, pretty quick car.

I need to put my DP,MBC and a whole bunch of stuff on my car, it's been sitting in the garage for almost a year, I was afraid I was going to need warrantee work though. lol *shrug*
