Get a hold of Xstang (Rick), he owes me a 2.8 from a previous deal. You can have it if you can get it. :D

Good luck with that. He's been MIA for a while now.

From what I've heard he got a bit TOO greedy with the spray on top of the boost. I believe one of his cam chains broke while he was highway racing someone and trashed his motor. Not sure about anything other than that.

I met him earlier this week. We were both in court for a racing ticket. Both got cases dismissed.
He is taking Ford to court in July trying to get them to buy his car back. Said he was going to buy a Z06 if he won the case or buy a Kenne Bell blower if he lost the case.

He won't win. A huge company like Ford isn't going to lose. He blew his junk up and he knew it was just a matter of time before it did spraying on top of boost. He needs to accept responsibility and either buy a new motor (or whatever he needs), or sell it for whatever he can get for it.

Anyone putting down more than 618 RWHP with their '03 Cobra? I was at the Hotrod Power Tour and someone had one that put that down on the dyno they had set up. Apparently he had changed the S/C and when he called about chips, several companies sent him numerous chips to test on his combo. He found the one he liked and got 618 to the rear wheels on the stock bottom end. He was with his wife and they drove the whole route with the A/C on.
It started to rain in Shreveport so I never found the guy to talk to, but several people from my caravan did. I have a feeling the '03 will go down as one of the more powerful factory offerings ever. It is apparently pretty easy to modify already.

More than likely he had the Kenne Bell blower on there and was running in the neighborhood of 16-18#'s of boost. It doesn't take much to get an '03 Cobra to make a ton of power with the KB blower.

Doesn't take much, except money.LOL
Any idea how much he probably has in it to get 600 plus RWHP?

It will probably go to a third party to decide on what happens. Ford does not have time to dick with small stuff like this. This goes alot deeper than Rick blowing his motor up, it has to do with Ford selling a $34k POS and not living up to it's end of the warranty.

How is the '03 Cobra a POS?
I thought the guy who blew his engine was also shooting nitrous. Sounds like he pushed his motor too hard and it cost him. I just don't see the POS comment. When done right you can put 600 RWHP and drive it all day long, I would love to see that from any other 281 cubic inch engine. Especially running A/C and driving it on the freeway.

it has nothing to do with how much power the car is making at the wheels. for the MOD money it is a bang for the buck...but the rest of the car is a different story. but to make 600rwhp your still looking at $6000 plus to get to that level. so all of a sudden you have a $40k car that's dash does not line up, a passenger seat that hits the door, a CD player that works when it feels like it, a engine that stalls for shits and giggles, rattles coming from who knows where, and a ride that is no where NEAR a C5.

I will second that. My car rattles, knocks, slaps, hops and everything else. Yes it is pretty fast for only having 1k in mods, but no its not worth 35k.

Are these problems with dashes not lining up, rattles, and such just the '03 Cobra or have they been problems since the new body style showed up?
My sister has an 02 vert and it has none of the problems you guys have with the Cobra.

The only rattle I had was the pasenger seat issue. They have a TSB on it and it was a five minute fix with two shims. I did have the vibe issue which required a new driveshaft but otherwise I have not had any real issues with the car.

Well hell, since we're on the charitable subject... I'd be happy to take a 2.93" to 3.10" blower pulley if anyone has one of those lying around. :D
On the quality subject, I think I got what I paid for.

I have a white coupe with '00R wheels, '95R wheels, or '03 wheels on it depending upon track activities. We are in the process of moving from Houston back to NRH right now. I will be there full time next Monday.

yes, just the 03 cobras.
Allright, why would an '03 Cobra rattle when 6 bangers and GT models don't? Aren't they basically the same car except for drivetrain and rear IRS?

why 03's rattle??? because they have a shit load of power and they wheel hop like a bitch and it shakes everything up...LOL i'm really not sure...

OK, just wondering. Saw a guy pull a 12.5 quarter and he had no wheel hop, claims it's stock. I didn't do a tech inspection on it, but I did watch his run.

06-09-2003, 04:06 PM
12.5 he might have small bolt on's like k&n filter, tires or ex. but bone stock they run low 13's or high 12...my car wheel hops. 03's will have some wheel hop.unless you run slicks i didn't hop on slicks, but i broke a half shaft my third pass.

12.62 with a K&N only on the F1s here, 1.81 60', just takes a few adjustments in driving technique with the IRS. The wheel hop issue is easy to resolve with air pressure, bushings, and shocks or very good track prep.

I second that big time. His custom pulleys are the shit. He also has autologic chips for a really good price.
One thing that helps big time with wheel hop(which you will get with a pulley) is the '00R rear springs.
Even though my car will get up and go I'm kinda of kicking myself now. I could get a '03 GT for $22K and throw a Kenne Bell on it(which is now out for the 2V 99up cars) and make 400rwhp and 400rwtq for alot less money......of course I would not be able to say I drive a '03 Cobra and make more power than that, but I would not be paying $425 every month.
