had a fun time. good to see everyone. weather was not too bad except for humidity. i'm happy with my times. my two best runs were

60- 1.837
1/8- 8.401
mph- 85.389

60- 1.935
1/8- 8.469
mph- 85.592

i had a few other 8.4 runs and a couple 8.5/8.6 runs. mph ranged from 82 to my best of 85.592. i had three in the 85's. i couldn't get any 1.7x sixty's all night. dunno why, i was on new slicks. this is also with full interior in the car. only weight taken out is jack/spare and i was runnin on my spare skinnies. it definately has more in it i just need to practice. i'm VERY happy with the mph considering i didn't remove any interior and it was humid out there.

oh yeah, i smacked ryan down twice even though he was on street tires. that boy needs some slicks. i look forward to gettin back out there when the weather is good.

all in all, not bad for a lowly 4.6 2V. better times will come. ;)

another interesting thing i noticed about my car last night...the engine doesn't like to be cooled off. it ran its lowest mph after i iced the intake and let it sit for a while. it usually ran 83.5 mph after i would let it sit for 10-15 minutes. all three of my 85.x mph runs were when i more or less hot-lapped it or let the car sit for like a minute or two. anyways, just wanted to share.

Good meeting ya Marcus! LOL Our race was sure interesting... You had me to about the 500 foot mark when I almost hooked up. It looked like you hit the brakes... ;)

Anyways man good to see you are getting things dialed in. My car is hauling serious ass, It is almost hairy feeling compared to last time out there.

Boost = :D I want to add more timing, but I think I will leave it like it is, it has no traction till middle of third gear now.:o

NICE times, especially considering those 60fts. Were you running on those skinny fronts you have? Did you do the launch like we talked about a while back? Did the car bog or spin any off the line? You may need to launch at a higher rpm. Either way, damn good times and mph.

i launched like we talked about. i just couldn't figure it out all night. the best sixty was the first pass which was the one i posted above (1.837) and that was with a cold 16 psi in the slicks and launchin at about 4600 (slight bog). i lowered pressure down to as much as 13 cold and raised launch rpm as high as 5200 throughout the night with no improvement. all sixtys were high 1.8-low 1.9. matt (aggie97) thought it might be cuz it was really humid and the slicks were brand new. i'll be back out again soon to practice and i'll probably take the backseat out next time like i usually do. bottom line- i just need more practice. :)

Practice will be the key for you marcus and make careful notes of everything as you learn....tire pressure, launch rpm, track prep and weather. I have used half the tread on my ET streets just trying to figure out the launch.

Each car is different so listening to me may help or hurt you.

I would start by keeping the same launch rpm.....say 5000, and then play with the tire pressure. Once is starts bogging when the pressure gets down to say 13.5, then start raising your launch rpm. That is what I did but you have to pay attention to the burn out and try to maintain the same tire stickiness, not necessarily the temp.

Like I said on my ETstreets, I clean the outer layer of rubber on the first pass, heat the shit out of them on pass number 2, then just get them warm every time after that. Works like charm and netted an average 1.70 for me with my old clutch. Now the clutch grabs great and the car is bogging. Back to the drawing board for me.

thanks for the advice matt. next time at the track i'll try launching at 5k and play with pressure and see what happens. i also like your method of heating the slicks real good on pass 2 and then just clean them of each pass after. every time i did a big burnout the sixty foot suffered. hopefully we'll have a cool weather/low humidity night here soon cuz i want to get back out there.
