My car came with a MachMP3 system but I've heard a lot of good thing about the Mach1000 system. I was wondering how difficult it would be to swap out my current stock setup for the Mach1000. Has anyone doesthis and does the Mach1000 head unit have MP3 playback capabilities???

Keep in mind when dealing with factory equipment that the wiring runs through many different harnesses. Just swapping in components sounds simple until you realize your going to be replacing an entire wiring harness. Your best bet as far a upgrades go, would be some nice aftermarket equipment. This is usually less expensive than getting all the correct factory parts,
and you get much better sound.
Don't waste time or money on that factory junk. Aftermarkrt products are made with better materials and will sound and perform better for less money in most cases.

I've heard the Mach 1000 system in only two GT's. I think it sounds great. The subs dont hit quite as hard as most would like but its a crisp clear sound. And unlike with aftermarket receivers especially, you can listen to the radio loud like CD's and you dont get that flat sound. The entire set up is somewhere around 1500 bucks from ford though. If I was in your situation, I would go aftermarket, but if you have the time and money the Mach 1000 is an excellent system. Plus you'll get a free 12month/12,000 mile warranty.
There are many brands of car audio these days that have a 2 or three year warranty from the manufacturer and they do not have miles attached to them. $1500 is high for what you are getting and it takes up way too much space. The failure rate for those amps is off the charts.

I personally plan on going with a pure infinity kappa system. 3 1/2's in front, 6 1/2 components in the doors, 6X8's in the rear and then 2 perfect 10 subs. Not sure on how I'll go about amping everything yet. Probably 250 or so to each sub, 100 watts to the 6 X8's and thatll be it.
