does anyone know about the radios in a 98 ish ford explorer?

im not getting any power through a hi voltage/rca adapter, and i believe it may be because the speakers are amplified, but i dont know for sure.

does anyone know?

yes, i know the easiest way would be to go outside and look for an amp, but, the car isnt here.

any help would be appreciated.

Call this a lazy response, but if you have Acrobat Reader, you can check here (http://www.installdr.com/InstallDocs/FLM/Explorer-Ranger.html). If you have a Premium system, you very well may have an external amp. That said, I finally sold my '93 EB a few years ago and bought a 2k EB, so my first hand experience with a '98 is nonexistent...

There is an amp behind the panel in the rear, above the pass. side wheel well.

Single or pair? My '93 EB w/ the JBL had a pair (one four channel + one single for sub), but now the newer Premiums only have the sub amp back there. Not sure which year the layout was switched...
